The Dodgers will try to steal a win on the road tonight as they battle the Red Sox in Game 2 of the 2018 World Series. The first pitch is scheduled for 8:09 p.m. ET. from Fenway Park.
Below, find the opening odds, key statistics, weather forecast, and score prediction for tonight’s eagerly anticipated game.
Dodgers vs Red Sox Game 2 Opening Odds
Team | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|
DODGERS +1.5 (-150) | DODGERS +127 | OVER 8.5 (-120) |
RED SOX -1.5 (+130) | RED SOX -147 | UNDER 8.5 (EVEN) |
The Dodgers are putting their faith in Hyun-Jin Ryu. The 31-year-old southpaw got off to a fast start in the 2018 postseason before being shelled by the Brewers in Game 6 of the NLCS. Ryu lasted just three innings against Milwaukee and gave up five earned runs on seven hits in the abbreviated outing. He’ll need to be far sharper tonight against Boston’s big bats.
The Red Sox will hand the ball to David Price. The former Cy Young winner exorcised his postseason demons in Game 5 of the ALCS by striking out nine batters in six stellar innings. Price is still just 3-9 with a 5.04 ERA in his playoff career, but he showed enough against the Astros in his two starts that Boston should feel confident with him back on the mound.

Boston’s vaunted offence proved to be every bit as good as advertised last night as the Red Sox doubled the Dodgers 8-4 in Game 1 of the 2018 World Series. Andrew Benintendi led the way with four hits and three runs scored, and AL MVP candidate JD Martinez chipped in with two hits and a pair of RBI. The biggest hit of all, however, came from pinch hitter Eduardo Nunez, who broke open the game with a three-run homer in the seventh inning.

The game had been hyped as a pitcher’s duel heading into Tuesday night, but seven-time All-Stars Chris Sale and Clayton Kershaw both struggled to keep runners off the base paths and left after four innings of work. Sale gave up three earned runs on five hits and Kershaw gave up five earned runs on seven hits to continue his trend of inconsistent postseason appearances.

Dodgers vs Red Sox Score Prediction
DODGERS | 4 |
RED SOX | Â 6 |
The Red Sox won 16 more games than the Dodgers in 2018, but the discrepancy between these two clubs wasn’t truly clear until last night as Boston breezed by LA on the strength of its superior offense. The Red Sox ranked first in the Majors in eight different offensive categories this season and have too much power, speed, and versatility for the Dodgers to contend with. What other club can boast not one, but two, legitimate MVP candidates?

Boston also has home field advantage on its side. No team was better at home this season than the Sox, who won 57 games at Fenway. Alex Cora’s club understands how to manipulate the quirks and idiosyncrasies of their ballpark better than anyone and are poised to use that knowledge once again tonight.
Ryu performed well earlier in the postseason, but was rocked in his last start against the Brewers and has a robust 8.59 ERA in away games. Expect the Sox to get to him early and often and to build an insurmountable lead by the fifth inning.
