Colorado (54-16-11) has clinched the Presidents’ Trophy and is resting MacKinnon, Necas and likely Landeskog for the season finale. Even without their top three forwards, the Avs are still -192 at home in the latest NHL odds against an eliminated Seattle team on the back end of a back-to-back.
The Kraken (34-36-11) are 1-8 in their last nine road games and lost 4-1 to Vegas on Wednesday. They’ll throw Victor Ostman into the crease for his NHL debut after losing three goalies to injuries and personal matters. Puck drop is at 8:15 pm MT / 10:15 pm ET from Ball Arena on ESPN.
Here are my Kraken vs Avalanche prediction and picks, plus a look at tonight’s goalie matchup.
Kraken vs Avalanche Prediction
- Total bet: Under 6.5 Goals (-125 at DraftKings)
My Kraken vs Avalanche prediction is on the under. Colorado has gone under the total in seven straight and five straight against teams with losing records. With MacKinnon, Necas and likely Landeskog all sitting, the Avs’ offensive ceiling is significantly lower than usual.
Wedgewood has been the best goalie in the NHL since mid-March with a 1.22 GAA and .947 save percentage in seven starts. Seattle barely generates offense at 2.77 goals per game. Both sides have reasons to keep this one quiet.
Kraken vs Avalanche Key Stats
Colorado outpaces Seattle in nearly every category. The Avs generate 33.73 shots per game compared to Seattle’s 25.63, and their 84.5% penalty kill is the best in the matchup by a wide margin.
Seattle’s 71.7% penalty kill is dreadful, but Colorado’s power play hasn’t been elite at 17.4%, so the special teams gap may not produce as many goals as you’d expect.
Kraken vs Avalanche Picks
I’ve come up with three Kraken vs Avalanche picks, two Seattle shot props and one from the Colorado side.
- Matty Beniers Over 1.5 Shots on Goal (-125 at Bet365)
SPORTSBOOK
I’m starting my Kraken vs Avalanche picks with Matty Beniers to clear his shots total. Beniers has gone over 1.5 shots in six straight road games against top-10 scoring defenses, averaging 2.5 per game in that stretch.
Even on a bad team, Beniers finds ways to create looks. He’ll be one of the few Kraken generating any volume tonight.
- Brandon Montour Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+108 at FanDuel)

Montour has cleared 2.5 shots in six straight against top-10 scoring defenses, averaging 4.7 per game. The plus money here is the play, even if Seattle is going to be chasing all night.
- Cale Makar Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-128 at Caesars)

Wrapping up my Kraken vs Avalanche picks, I like Cale Makar to stay over his shots total. With MacKinnon, Necas and likely Landeskog all sitting, Makar becomes the primary offensive engine for Colorado tonight.
The Avs will still control possession against a depleted Seattle roster, and Makar is the type of player who racks up shots when the team is dominating the neutral zone.
Kraken vs Avalanche Odds
The interactive widget above will update automatically as the Kraken vs Avalanche odds move throughout the day.
Colorado is -192 at DraftKings and Seattle is +170 at Caesars. The puck line has COL -1.5 at +130 (Fanatics) and SEA +1.5 at -145 (Caesars). The total is split between bet365 offering over 6 at -120 and DraftKings listing under 6.5 at -125.
The Stanley Cup odds have Colorado near the top of the board heading into the postseason. The Avs need just one point tonight to set the franchise record for best regular season, topping the 2021-22 squad that went on to win the Cup.

Kraken vs Avalanche Starting Goalies
Scott Wedgewood is confirmed for Colorado. Seattle’s starter is unconfirmed, but Victor Ostman is expected to make his NHL debut after the Kraken lost Daccord, Grubauer and Murray to various injuries and personal matters.
Wedgewood vs Ostman Stats
Wedgewood has been outstanding all season and especially lethal since mid-March with a 1.22 GAA and .947 save percentage across seven starts (5-1-1). He stopped 30 of 31 shots in a 2-1 shootout win over Edmonton in his last outing.
Ostman has zero NHL games under his belt, though Colorado resting its top three forwards softens the matchup considerably. The backup option is Nikke Kokko (1-2-0, 3.04 GAA, .890 SV% in 3 games). Even with the rest, the Avs still roll out Lehkonen, Nelson, Nichushkin and Makar, so it’s not like Ostman is getting a free pass.
