  • Charleroi Esports 2019 takes place April 12-14
  • Is Vitality a lock to win it all?
  • Can the new look G2 find their footing early on?

Charleroi Esports 2019 takes place April 12-14 in Belgium, and will host eight teams in the world of Counterstrike, headlined by G2 and Vitality. This tournament will probably be two-horse between the French superteams, as the competition isn’t quite at the highest level. Vitality comes in as the slight favorite over G2, but are they truly the best bet here? Let’s start off by taking a look at the odds.

Truly the New Number 1 French Team?

It finally looks like G2 is no longer the top team in France, as Vitality seem to have stolen the crown. Since they formed in October, they’ve been on a pretty steady rise up in the world of Counterstrike and currently sit 10th in the HLTV rankings.

Made up of veterans and one young superstar, they have proven that they can hang with some of the world’s best. They’ve managed to find wins over BIG, ENCE, and mousesports as of late, and they did so in pretty convincing fashion.

The wins they’re finding always seem to have one thing in common, and that’s the young superstar ZywOo absolutely going off. He was able to land himself on a very good squad for his first real professional team because of his insane skill in FPL, and he is just as insane on LAN. Some doubted he could pull off what he was doing online, but here he is with a staggering 1.37 rating on LAN so far in his career.

He truly is one of the world’s best, and even when he seems to have an off map he is still doing better than most of his team. As long as one other player can somewhat keep up with ZywOo’s fragging then they usually have no problem taking down good teams. Since Charleroi Esports 2019 doesn’t really have any premier teams other than G2, I would guess ZywOo is going to have a monstrous performance in Belgium.

New G2 (Again) Who Dis?

The revolving door continues for G2, as they have made yet another roster change recently picking up AMANEK in early March. This comes after a disastrous 2018 that saw multiple iterations of the once legendary French lineup, each of which found no success at all.

This may be a better move than any in the past though, as AMANEK has shown in the past that he can hold his own in the top tiers of CS:GO. G2 pretty much just recycled players over and over again finding little to no success but expecting a different result each time. Now that they have finally brought some fresh blood into the scene alongside two legends in shox and kennyS, they may actually be able to figure it out.

Though they have only had limited time to play together as a team, this new-look G2 seem like they may be able to reach the heights of some of the old French rosters. Only time will tell though, and time is not on their side heading into Charleroi Esports 2019.

They will only have had just over a month together as a team, so playing against some of the lower skilled teams on LAN will prove to be a good tuneup for G2, but I just don’t see them measuring up with Vitality quite yet. Expect them to make a run to the finals, but anything more than that may just prove to be too much for a roster that’s still in its infancy.

Pick: Vitality (+200)

A Foregone Conclusion?

I wouldn’t look any further than Vitality and G2 to reach the finals of Charleroi Esports 2019. They are both on a different level than any other team that will be in attendance, and should walk over the rest of the teams pretty easily.

Sprout and GamerLegion both may be able to pull off an upset here, but I wouldn’t bank on it.

Picks: Vitality (-200), G2 (+100)
