  • 2019 LMS Spring Split starts January 14 in Taipei
  • Will Flash Wolves roll through the competition like years past?
  • Will MAD be able to take the top spot?

The LMS Spring Split is set to being January 14 in Taipei, with the top 8 Taiwanese teams duking it out to claim the first split of the 2019 season, and a trip to MSI. Historically the region has been dominated by one team, with all the others far behind, and that team is Flash Wolves.

Having won every split so far in the LMS, they look to continue their reign into the 2019 season, starting with the Spring Split. Though this year may prove to be a bit more difficult than years past, as MAD proves to be a worthy opponent to challenge for the crown in the League of Legends Master Series.

Will Flash Wolves Be Able to Add Another Title?

The Taiwanese powerhouse Flash Wolves, have been able to hold on to the top spot in their region for the entirety of its existence in the world of League of Legends. Something that it truly an impressive feat, considering the parity of each of the other regions that compete in LoL.

They have won every split dating back to the inaugural Summer 2016 Split, and have done so in convincing fashion. Having only dropped a handful of series along the way, Flash Wolves were more or less considered a shoo-in as the team that would be representing the LMS on the world stage come time for international events.

They managed to have a decent showing at Worlds, picking up wins over Afreeca and G2 in group play, and placing 9-12th.

Though they have dominated in the past, it will be a new look roster in the 2019 LMS Spring Split. Maple, SwordArt, and Moojin have moved on, and Flash Wolves has picked up two Koreans and another Taiwanese support to fill the void left by the three stars who departed.

Bugi, Rather, and ShiauC look to help the Wolves pick up where they left off, and help win yet another split for the Taiwanese Kings.

Can MAD Claim the Number One Spot in the LMS?

A relatively new team in the LMS, MAD Team look to be the ones to knock Flash Wolves off their throne and take home the title in the 2019 LMS Spring Split. Fielding a roster of seven players, they will look to bring new looks to each game and sub in and out players when they feel fit. This is a common technique in some of the Korean rosters, and has proven to be a useful tactic.

After a rather disappointing World Championship that saw MAD exit the group stage without a win, they look to shake it off and come out hot for the 2019 LMS Spring Split. Will they have the ability to knock the new look Flash Wolves off their throne? My money is on no. Expect Flash Wolves to come out on top yet again, despite a making a few roster changes in the offseason.

Pick: Flash Wolves (+275)
