PSG.LGD Top Group A

Over a month ago PSG.LGD were given +800 odds of winning The International 2019, but following the Group Stage their odds have drastically increased. PSG.LGD has had a great start to The International. They topped Group A with a 5-3-0 record and 13 points to their name. They didn’t drop a single best of two series and took down the tournament favorites, Team Secret, 2-0.

By finishing first in their group, PSG.LGD earned the advantage of getting to choose between the third and fourth place finisher in Group B as their first round upper bracket opponent. They elected to pick Virtus.pro who had a 3-2-3 record and eight points after the group stage.

Winning their group over the likes of Team Secret is a huge advantage for PSG.LGD and has helped their chances of making a deep run at The International. They won’t have to face teams like OG Esports or Team Secret until the Upper Bracket Finals.

Team Liquid’s Tragic Group Stage

Prior to the group stage beginning, Team Liquid had very good odds of winning at +450. Now that the group stage is over, Team Liquid has dropped all the way to +6600. That drop is warranted after Team Liquid only managed to gather six points in Group A as they went 2-2-4 and finished in seventh. They went 0-2 to Newbee, PSG.LGD, Team Secret and TNC Predator.

Every team that they went 0-2 to ended up making the upper bracket of the main event. If Team Liquid has any chance of winning The International, they’ll need to run through the losers bracket and take down teams that have already shown the ability to defeat them. Their lower bracket run begins with a best of one against Fnatic.

Anything can happen in a best of one, and still, that’s just the beginning of Team Liquid’s long and tenuous journey.

OG Esports Also On the Rise

OG Esports’ odds have also taken a turn similarly to PSG.LGD. OG was able to conquer Group B and did so even more impressively than PSG.LGD. They had the most points of the group stage with 14 and ending up with a 6-2-0 record, only dropping games to Na’Vi and Vici Gaming.

OG then chose Newbee as their first round opponents in the upper bracket. Despite having the same odds of winning at +350, OG might have a slightly tougher road than PSG.LGD. If OG gets past Newbee, they’ll likely have to face Team Secret in the second round.

The group stage of The International 2019 has drastically changed the odds of winning, yet Team Secret are still favorites to win it all. Now might be a good time to switch to PSG.LGD who just showed the ability to knock off the tournament favorites.

Pick: PSG.LGD (+350)
