Previously we looked at the odds to win the ESL One Katowice, and Team Secret was at the top of the table sitting at +200. Since then Secret has become the odds-on favorite to win the tournament at -190.

What has caused their odds to change so much? It’s a good question, but before we answer it let’s take a look at the updated odds table for ESL One Katowice. As of right now, there are a few teams competing that are not listed in the odds.

The other big reason that their odds have shifted so much, is because their main competition has bowed out and been replaced by another squad. EHOME was supposed to be in attendance, but due to a scheduling conflict they forfeited their spot to the runner-up of the China qualifier, For the Dream.

With the competition being that much weaker with EHOME missing, Secret should walk through the tournament on their way to yet another title. The only question is who will be joining them in the finals?

Who Will Place Second?

I would say it’s a foregone conclusion that Secret comes out on top in Katowice, the real thing to keep an eye on will be seeing who can make it to play the current world number 1 in the finals. There are three teams I would look at to possibly make the finals; Fnatic, NiP, and Gambit.

Fnatic is the next highest ranked team in the tournament after the departure of EHOME, but by no means are they a lock to be one of the final two.

Ninjas in Pajamas recently managed to beat Team Secret in the DreamLeague qualifier, so they’re a good option to reach the final.

Lastly, Gambit has shown that they can compete with some of the best teams in the world, and can never be taken lightly. At a tournament with a smaller and less skilled field like Katowice has, they may just thrive.
