  • Liquid still sit atop the odds table in the LCS Summer Split after four weeks
  • Are there any teams that can stop their four-peat?
  • Are TSM and Cloud9 worth looking at to claim the LCS Summer Split Title?

The LCS Summer Split is four weeks deep into its nine week season, and so far the favorites heading into the split sit atop the table as many expected. Liquid, the team favored to win the split, are rocking a 6-2 record thus far and look poised to make a run at their fourth consecutive LCS title.

They’re coming off of reaching the finals of MSI where they fell to the hands of G2, but they still seem to be the best team that North America has to offer. Are they truly the best bet to win again on the LCS main stage, or is there a better bet sitting lower in the table? Let’s start by taking a look at the latest odds.

B2Bx2?

Liquid managed to do the unthinkable in the LCS Spring Split finals, when they reverse swept TSM en route to claiming their third LCS title in a row. They then went on to make a run deeper than any other North American team ever at an international event, where they eventually fell short with the second place finish.

The taste of victory at MSI was so close and Liquid will definitely be using that feeling of falling short as fuel to run through the LCS Summer Split. They did drop a few games so far this split to teams that they shouldn’t have lost to, but with the amount of veterans on this roster they will know it’s time to tighten up their bootstraps come playoff time.

Liquid without a doubt should finish within the top-2 of the Summer Split, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t drop a game for the remainder of the split. They truly are the strongest team ever put together in North America and I think there is a very good chance they make it four and row and walk away with the LCS Summer Split title.

The Other Two Threats

Out of the remaining teams in the LCS I think there are a few teams that stand an outside chance of claiming the Summer Split title, but two more so that the others. They are TSM and Cloud9.

The two had been the strongest teams in the LCS historically until Liquid crashed the conversation in 2018. Cloud9 made it the furthest a team from NA has ever made it at an international event at the time, when they managed to make the semifinals of the 2018 World Championships. TSM held a 2-0 lead over Liquid in the Spring Split finals before letting it all slip away.

So even though both teams have historically been great, they both have recent performances that suggest they are capable of knocking Liquid off their LCS throne. I would say out of the two I may give the better chance to TSM even though they are having a kind of slow start to the Summer Split.

TSM match up pretty well with Liquid on paper, and proved that they could push them to their limits already once this year in a best of five series.

TSM match up pretty well with Liquid on paper, and proved that they could push them to their limits already once this year in a best of five series. Though when all is said and done, I think the experience factor may be what ends up playing the biggest role in who walks away with the Summer Split title.

Liquid has the best support in NA, arguably the world, and he just happens to be a World Champion, the only one playing on any of the three real threats to win the Summer Split. They also arguably have one of, if not the best, Toplaner, Midlaner, ADC, and Jungler in the LCS. So when it comes down to it, I think Liquid may just hit the four-peat.

Pick: Liquid (+135)
