The Atlanta Falcons need to prove they are for real as they visit San Diego to take on the Chargers in one of the most intriguing games of week 3.  The game will start at 4:05 PM ET at Qualcomm Stadium.

The Falcons showed they are ready for big things as they beat the Denver Broncos on a Monday night showdown last week. Atlanta’s defense intercepted Peyton Manning 3 times and forced one more fumble to give the Broncos’ offense a huge headache.

Atlanta needs to improve as a running team; they average 3.0 yards per carries.  The Falcons ran for 67 yards on 28 attempts against Denver.

Michael Turner, the Falcons running back was arrested for DUI on Monday night after the game. “This is a legal matter, and it’s very well-defined how we have to proceed with it through the league, and we’ll let this process run its course,” said coach Mike Smith, who cited the collective bargaining agreement.

Turner limited himself to talk about his ex-team, the Chargers. “The thing that is unique to me is how close they are,” Turner told the Chargers’ official website. “The number of new guys we brought in (are) the right types of guys — (tight end) Dante (Rosario), (linebacker) Jarret (Johnson), (running back) Le’Ron (McClain). They feel the chemistry that’s already there”.

San Diego beat Oakland and Tennessee in the first two games of the season; nothing impressive but it is the first time since Norv Turner is the Chargers’ head coach that the team has started with a 2-0 record.

The NFL odds have San Diego as 3 point favorites for this matchup.
