Brooks Koepka Withdraws From US Open – See Updated Odds for Winged Foot

Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the US Open next week due to lingering physical issues that forced him to miss the FedEx Cup playoffs. Koepka, who won the US Open in both 2017 and 2018, along with a runner-up finish last year, has been battling injuries related to his knee and hip.

Koepka finished inside the top four in all four majors in 2019, including a win at the PGA Championship, and entered the final round of the PGA this year with an opportunity to win three in a row before a poor final round.

With the four-time major champion not teeing it up, Dustin Johnson is an even heavier frontrunner, now at odds of +750 for Winged Foot, which last hosted a US Open in 2006.

Dustin Johnson Primed for Second Career Major

Aside from 2017, when Johnson had won three straight times heading into the Masters before a forced withdrawal, he’s never been hotter heading into a major than he is right now.

He became the first golfer since 1999 to hold the 54-hole lead in four straight events, winning The Northern Trust and Tour Championship to claim his first FedEx Cup title.

Without Koepka in his path to victory, Johnson should be eying a second major title. In 2018, they both co-led after 54 holes at this very tournament before Koepka won. Then in 2019, DJ finished second at the PGA Championship to, you guessed it, Koepka.

Of all the majors, this is the one that has produced the best finishes for Johnson (four in the top five) including a victory in 2016, and he’s coming into the event on a heater.

While he’s shockingly stuck on just one career major title, this is his time and opportunity to seize control of the big events without Koepka stealing trophies away from him.
