Reds vs Nationals Probable Pitchers

There is practically nothing to be excited about if you’re a Reds fan. But, Lodolo has looked half-decent this year. In 12 starts, the lefty is 3-4 with a 4.35 ERA, striking out 77 in 60 innings. However, his command is shaky at times, allowing 28 walks.

Last time out, Lodolo gave up four earned in 5.1 innings of work while collecting five punchouts. The 24-year-old rookie has yet to face the Nationals in his big league career, though. This is brand new territory.

Lodolo vs Corbin

Nick Lodolo

3-4 Record 4-17
4.35 ERA 6.81
6- Innings Pitched 121.2
77 Strikeouts 108
28 BB 43

2022 truly couldn’t be any worse for Corbin. At one point, he was one of the best lefties in the game. Now, the 33-year-old is just struggling immensely every time he takes the bump. Corbin has a 4-17 record and 6.81 ERA in 25 starts.

Corbin’s last start was probably one of his best of the campaign, though. The veteran allowed just two earned runs against the Padres across 5.1 frames. Nevertheless, he still took the loss.

Rough Year For Reds

Cincinnati can’t get out of the gutter in the National League and to make matters worse, they lost Joey Votto for the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury. Offensively, the Reds aren’t awful. They rank 16th in the Majors with 4.3 runs per game.

Unfortunately, it’s the pitching staff that is proving to be the problem. Cincy sports a team ERA of 5.02. That’s third-last in the MLB. The only arm in their rotation with an ERA under four is Graham Ashcraft and he’s now injured. Hopefully, Lodolo can give them a decent outing on Sunday.

Nationals Sit Last In MLB

This season is truly a disaster for Washington. Although they did get a decent package of prospects in return for Juan Soto, the Nats are still the worst team in the bigs. Ahead of Saturday night, DC is 4-6 in their last 10 and just 19-45 at home.

Unlike Cincinnati, Washington is essentially atrocious in all categories. Their ERA as a group is 5.13 and they’re scoring a mere 3.7 runs per contest. With Corbin on the mound, there won’t be a lot of confidence for this team. But, the Nationals have won three of their last four against the Reds.

Reds vs Nationals Pick

I just can’t side with the Nats when Corbin is pitching. For that reason alone, take the Reds to win the rubber match on Sunday.

Pick: Cincinnati Reds (-125)
