The Phillies are -115 favorites in a game that will be televised by MLB Network (out of market only), giving them a 53.49% implied win probability. Wednesday’s weather forecast calls for a high of 74 degrees in Denver under sunny skies with wind from the northwest at 7-11 mph and gusts up to 21 mph.

Probable Pitchers

Zach Eflin (0-1, 4.50) is scheduled to start for the Phillies against German Marquez (0-0, 3.97). Both will be pitching on four days of rest.

Eflin vs Marquez

Zach Eflin
VS
German Marquez
0-1 Record 0-0
4.50 ERA 3.97
3.21 xERA 3.28
1.38 WHIP 1.24
2.33 SO/W 8.00

Neither pitcher was particularly effective his last time out last Friday.

Eflin lost to the Marlins in Miami, allowing four runs and six hits in four innings with four strikeouts and one walk. Marquez did not factor in the decision against the Chicago Cubs at home as he gave up four runs on 10 hits in 4.1 innings while striking out three and walking one.

Eflin is 1-3 with a 7.40 ERA in four career starts against the Rockies and 1-2 with a 5.52 ERA in three games at Coors Field.

Friday’s loss marked Eflin’s first road start of the season. Last season, he was 2-5 with a 5.12 ERA in 10 starts away from home.

The Rockies’ Kris Bryant is 8 for 13 (.615) against Eflin with two doubles and Charlie Blackmon is 5 for 9 with two home runs. Conversely, Jose Iglesias has only one hit in six at-bats with two strikeouts.

Marquez has pitched well against the Phillies with a 3-1 career record and a 2.75 ERA in six starts.

Marquez, who has made both his starts at home this season, has held Didi Gregorius hitless in nine at-bats. However, Jean Segura is 4 for 7 with a double and Nick Castellanos is 3 for 6 with two doubles.

Phillies vs Rockies Betting Outlook

The Rockies put themselves in position to sweep the series by winning Tuesday night when C.J. Cron hit a go-ahead three-run home run in the seventh inning. That put the Rockies on top 6-4.

Cron’s six home runs lead the major leagues, and his 14 RBIs are tied for the National League lead. He also has a 1.199 OPS.

Down 4-3 in the seventh, Blackmon drew a two-out walk and Bryant singled before Cron connected. Daniel Bard worked a perfect ninth inning for his fifth save.

Gregorius sustained a bruised left hand after being hit by a pitch in the second inning. He is questionable for Wednesday.

Kyle Schwarber was 2 for 4 with a homer and 4 for 12 with two blasts since being dropped from the leadoff spots. JT Realmuto is 13 for 33, including 3 for 4 on Tuesday, since beginning the season 1 for 9.

Phillies vs Rockies Prediction

The Rockies have broken from the gate quickly while the Phillies have been a big disappointment after spending a combined $179 million on Castellanos and Schwarber during the offseason. Look for Marquez to have yet another strong outing against Philadelphia as a slight underdog.
