Baseball is back with a jam packed 15-game Opening Day slate for us to sweat on Thursday. The action gets underway early at 1:05 pm ET with a pair of games, while 10 of the 15 contests are matinee affairs.

Reigning champ and current second-favorite in the AL MVP odds, Aaron Judge has the shortest odds to hit a home run at +340, after belting 62 dingers last season. His Yankee teammate Gerrit Cole has the highest strikeout prop at 7.5, while Washington starter Patrick Corbin has the lowest strikeout over/under at 3.5.

Pick #1: Patrick Corbin Under 3.5 Strikeouts

Corbin is coming off the worst statistical season of his career. He posted a 6-19 record in 2022, recording a personal worst 6.31 ERA and 1.70 WHIP.

His K/9 rate has been trending down for several seasons now, and last year he averaged only 7.5 strikeouts per 9 innings.

His matchup is incredibly challenging on Opening Day, as the 2021 champion Braves are in town. Atlanta currently boasts the third shortest World Series odds, and has a lineup full of hitters that have smacked around Corbin in the past.

Braves batters own a lifetime .333 average against Corbin, with a .954 OPS. He faced Atlanta four times last season, failing to make it out of the second inning on two occasions, and finishing with fewer than four strikeouts a pair of times as well.

Washington is a sizeable underdog to the Braves in the MLB odds, and at +125 odds, fading Corbin’s K total is an easy choice on Thursday.

Pick #2: Aaron Judge Over 0.5 RBI

Back to Judge now, who’s the second target on our Opening Day MLB player props card. Like Corbin, this is a plus money selection, as Judge boasts +180 odds to drive a runner in.

Sure, the matchup with Giants starter Logan Webb is a challenging one, but this line is too good to pass up. Judge led the AL in home runs, RBI and OPS last season. He drove in 131 runs, including 96 against right handed pitching.

The Yankees lineup is full of stars, and chances are good Judge will see one or more plate appearances with runners in scoring position. Judge was incredibly clutch in those situations last season, and there’s no reason to think things will change now. He batted .346 with runners on second and/or third in 2022, with 11 home runs, 68 RBI and a 1.241 OPS.
