It’s the battle of Ohio on Tuesday as the Cincinnati Reds visit the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field. The first pitch is set for 6:10 PM ET.
Connor Overton takes the hill for the Reds, while Cleveland counters with Zach Plesac.

Cincinnati vs Cleveland Probable Pitchers
Overton has been one of the lone bright spots for Cincinnati this season, posting impressive numbers. He’s 1-0 in three starts with a stellar 1.59 ERA, allowing only three earned runs in 17 innings of work. Last time out, the righty dominated the Pirates, tossing 6.1 scoreless frames of three-hit baseball, notching his first win of the campaign.

However, he’s never faced the Guardians. Considering how solid his previous start was, there is good reason to believe Overton can be effective again.

Plesac got off to a decent start in 2022. He only allowed three earned in his first three outings, but it’s gone downhill since. The right-hander has allowed 14 earned runs in his last three starts and was hit around by the White Sox on May 9th. Plesac surrendered four runs but he did manage to last 6.1 innings.

The 27-year-old also tends to pitch better at home, owning a 3.71 ERA compared to 4.68 overall. Plesac has limited experience against the Reds, but given how awful their offense is right now, this could be the game that turns his season back around.
Cincinnati Reds Betting Outlook
Cincinnati is truly in shambles. They own the worst record in baseball at 9-26 and can’t seem to get it going offensively or pitch well. The Reds are 27th in team average at .216 and sit towards the bottom in almost every notable category. The staff is their biggest problem ranking dead last in the big leagues with an atrocious 6.04 ERA.

Pretty much every starter is struggling. Overton is a lone bright spot, which is why Cincy should have some confidence heading into Tuesday’s game. Hunter Greene is a star in the making too and he contributed to a combined no-hitter on Sunday. Problem is, they still lost 1-0. Figure that out.
Cleveland Guardians Betting Outlook
Cleveland is one game below .500 at 16-17 and has gone 6-4 in their last 10 games. However, Terry Francona’s group just dropped two out of three to the Twins and couldn’t produce at the plate in the last pair of games, in particular, scoring only four runs.
Swings and misses are hard to come by up and down our lineup.

As a whole though, this is a very solid lineup that can swing it. They’re top five in average and hits and also typically have no problem scoring runs. Jose Ramirez, who is +1200 in the AL MVP odds, is batting .290 with eight bombs and continues to enjoy a productive season after getting paid handsomely before the campaign began.

Reds vs Guardians Prediction
Overton is proving to be very consistent but he’s never faced this Guardians lineup who can really produce. Plesac meanwhile, is just getting torched lately. This feels like a good time to take the over, especially considering the inconsistency of both staffs.
