The slumping Toronto Blue Jays will look to get back on track when they host the Detroit Tigers at 3:07pm ET Saturday at Rogers Centre in the middle game of a three-game series.

The Blue Jays (63-57) have lost three games in a row and six of their last seven but are huge favorites Saturday. The Tigers (59-65) ended a four-game losing streak Friday night with a 4-1 victory in 10 innings in the series opener.

The moneyline opened with the Blue Jays at hefty -260 favorites and has gone up even higher. The roof could be open at Rogers Centre as the gametime temperature is expected to be 82 degrees under partly sunny skies with a 20% chance of rain and wind from the southeast at 8 mph.

Probable Pitchers

The Tigers will give the ball to Wily Peralta (3-2, 2.70) and he will oppose left-hander Hyun Jin Ryu (11-6, 3.72).

Peralta has struggled lately, going 0-1 with a 6.65 ERA in his last five starts. Last Saturday at home against Cleveland, he did not factor in the decision as he allowed three runs on six hits in 4.1 innings while striking out six and walking three.

3.70 ERA 3.72

Peralta has notched just two quality starts in his 11 starts this season and none since July 18. The Tigers are 6-5 when he starts.

His recent struggles mirror a moment from winter ball in January.

The road has given Peralta trouble as he has a 2-2 record with a 4.58 ERA in seven starts and eight total appearances away from Detroit. He is 1-0 with a 5.93 ERA at night in four games, with two starts.

Peralta is 1-0 with a 4.78 ERA lifetime against the Blue Jays in seven games, starting twice. At Rogers Centre, he has a 1-0 record and 5.93 ERA in two starts and four total appearances.

Since winning four straight decisions, Ryu is 0-1 with a 9.90 ERA in his last two starts. He lost to the Mariners last Saturday in Seattle when he worked 6.1 innings and gave up four runs, three hits and two walks to go with three strikeouts.

The Blue Jays are 15-8 when Ryu pitches this season, and he has recorded 11 quality starts. He is 1-0 with a 7.59 ERA in two starts at Rogers Centre and 4-2 with a 4.18 ERA in 10 daytime starts.

Ryu has faced the Tigers twice in his career, going 0-1 with an 8.59 ERA.

Cabrera Stuck on 499

Tigers designated hitter Miguel Cabrera is still trying to hit his 500th career home run. He has gone eight straight games since last connecting Aug. 11 against the Orioles at Baltimore.

Cabrera is 1-for-4 against Ryu with two strikeouts.

Tigers’ outfielder Derek Hill is expected to be activated from the injured list before the game. He has been out since sustaining a left rib contusion Aug. 10 while colliding with teammate Akil Baddoo as they chased a fly ball against the Orioles.

Blue Jays left fielder Corey Dickerson has had success against Peralta, going 6-for-10 with one double and two home runs. Acquired from the Miami Marlins in a trade, Dickerson is hitting .282 in his first 14 games for the Blue Jays with two doubles, a triple, two homers and eight RBIs.

Tigers-Blue Jays Pick

Friday night marked the first meeting between the Tigers and Blue Jays since July 21, 2019. The teams split 20 games over a three-year span from 2017-19.

Tigers pinch-hitter Harold Castro singled in the go-ahead run Friday with two out in a three-run 10th inning.

Peralta has faded in recent weeks after pitching lights out for the Tigers upon his callup from the minor leagues. Even at a big number, the Blue Jays and Ryu are the way to go in this one.

The Pick: Blue Jays (-290)
