Bellator 216: MVP vs Daley goes this Saturday live on DAZN, one night after Bellator 215 featuring Matt Mitrione and Sergei Kharitonov. The event place at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Bellator 216 showcases what many are calling the biggest grudge match in the history of British MMA. This is enjoyable as an isolated fight, but takes on additional significance since it’s a quarter final bout in the Welterweight Grand Prix.

The co-main event bout is a rematch with title implications. Also, Mirko Cro Cop will make his Bellator debut, to put his perfect record in rematches on the line, as he gets locked in the cage a second time with Roy Nelson. It’s a fun card all around, and we have the odds on all of the main card bouts below.

Bellator 216: Paul Daley vs MVP Odds

Fighter Bellator 216: Paul Daley vs MVP Odds
Paul Daley +175
MVP -225

This top of the marquee prize fight has a number of compelling tendrils even beyond advancing in the GP. One of the big talking points is this being the first truly big test for MVP. Long time Bellator fans have been in awe of MVP’s flashy striking style but have been equally frustrated by the caliber of competition that he has largely been fed.

Paul Daley is a well-regarded veteran who has fought for some of the most prolific MMA promotions of all time and has an undeniable resume. Not only is there bad blood in this fight, but there’s great potential for fireworks. Both men have highlight reel knockouts aplenty and many MMA pundits are expecting a stand-up war. Paul Daley has a notorious hatred for facing off with grapplers.

This dynamic is sure to inspire Paul to be able to fully express himself in combat. I have to pick Paul Daley in this situation. I just feel like he has the more proven track record and will notch another KO win and advance to Bellator’s Welterweight Grand Prix semi-finals.

Pick: Paul Daley (+185)

Bellator 216: Vitaly Minakov vs Cheick Kongo Odds

Fighter Odds
Cheick Kongo +325
Vitaly Minakov -450

A key Heavyweight bout is in the co-main event spot and it could very well determine the next number one contender for the championship. Kongo is a tenured UFC veteran who also has a pretty exemplary, if unheralded, Bellator record.

Kongo often gets the wrap for being a bit of a boring fighter, sometimes deserved, but has impressive stoppages in his last two fights. Kongo is facing a man who has already bested him though.

Former promotional champion Minakov returns to the Bellator cage to rematch a man he defended his strap against years back. The decision win over Kongo was his last Bellator fight and now almost five years later, Minakov will once again be locked in the cage with Cheick.

Kongo does often get slept on, but I see Minakov clearly taking this one. I think Vitaly will win emphatically to reinsert himself into that Bellator Heavyweight title picture.
