Combate Americas is back again this weekend for Combate Americas 39: Unbreakable. In the main event, Jose Alday returns to take on Juan Pablo Gonzalez in what should be a great bantamweight bout. There are also a couple of intriguing fights and fighters on the card.

Combate Americas 39 airs live on DAZN at 9:00 p.m. ET.

Jose Alday vs Juan Pablo Gonzalez Odds

Fighter Odds
Jose Alday -280
Juan Pablo Gonzalez +220

*All odds taken 06/05/19

In the main event, one of the top bantamweight prospects in Jose Alday will be looking to get back into the win column. Last time out he lost to Gustavo Lopez after beating him the fight before. However, something going for Alday in this scrap is the fact that is very well versed and has a solid ground game, has the cardio to go the distance, and has shown he can knock people out.

Gonzalez meanwhile, is on a two-fight losing streak, although his last loss is to Mario Bautista, who is now in the UFC. However, I don’t think he matches up well with Alday.

Pick: Jose Alday (-280)

Rafa Garcia vs Estevan Payan Odds

Fighter Odds
Rafa Garcia -700
Estevan Payan +450

There is no question about it, Rafa Garcia is UFC caliber. The 24-year-old is undefeated and has shown a solid ground game and has a win by knockout and decision. But, in this fight for him to win he needs to get Payan down to the ground.

Although Payan has fought in the UFC and Bellator before, I think he doesn’t match up to the skill of Garcia, who will use Payan as a big name to build his own career.

Pick: Rafa Garcia (-700)

Javier Torres vs Joel Champion Odds

Fighter Odds
Javier Torres -155
Joel Champion +125

This is a really intriguing bout and a close one in that. Torres is a former Bellator fighter who fought Neiman Gracie, who is now fighting for the title. Champion, meanwhile, is the younger fighter and is looking to build his name off of Torres, who is fairly well-known to the hardcore MMA fans.

For Torres to win this fight he needs to keep the fight standing as Champion has incredible jiu-jitsu.

For Torres to win this fight he needs to keep the fight standing as Champion has incredible jiu-jitsu and the Mexican has been submitted before. Ultimately, I don’t see that happening, and instead believe Champion gets this fight to the ground and wins by submission.

Pick: Joel Champion (+125)

Eduardo Alvarado Osuna vs Jose Luis Calvo Odds

Fighter Odds
Eduardo Alvarado Osuna +325
Jose Luis Calvo -450

Another mismatch for this event. Jose Luis Calvo is the real deal as he is a surging prospect who could very well be signed to Bellator or the UFC soon. He is well versed with wins by submission, decision, and knockout, which is bad news for Osuna.

Although Osuna has fought better competition, he has shown his chin isn’t there and has been knocked out four times. For Osuna to win this fight he needs to tire out Calvo which will not happen. Calvo by stoppage in the second-round is the pick.

Pick: Jose Luis Calvo (-450)

Justin Rascon vs Jesus Rivas Odds

Fighter Odds
Justin Rascon -450
Jesus Rivas +325

Both fighters are fairly new to MMA with Rascon holding a 2-2 record and Rivas being 1-2 as a pro. Rivas is on a two-fight losing streak while Rascon lost his last bout, and this fight could very well mean the loser gets cut. Both Americans desperately need to win this fight so I expect it to be a good one as both will be looking for a win and a stoppage.

Ultimately, I think Rascon is just a tad better than Rivas, and given Rivas has lost by submission, and that is where Rascon excels, a win by submission is the pick.

Pick: Justin Rascon (-450)

Andy Perez vs David Duran Odds

Fighter Odds
Andy Perez -170
David Duran +140

This is a fight that I really like the underdog in David Duran. Andy Perez is making his professional debut, and I think the nerves will be there for the Arizona native.

For Duran, he has fought in top promotions like Bellator and has fought against top guys like Juan Archuleta and Shawn Bunch, among others. I think he has the power to catch Perez and knock him out, or use his jab effectively to score points and win on the scorecards.

Pick: David Duran (+140)
