  • Jon Jones coming off a decision win over Thiago Santos at UFC 239
  • “Bones” has been flagged by USADA numerous times
  • Will he be suspended again by USADA?

Jon Jones defended his light heavyweight title last night in the main event of UFC 239. There, he fought Thiago Santos to a split-decision, where UFC president Dana White believed Jones dominated that fight and it not should have been a split-decision.

Now, the question of what is next for Jones is something many are wondering. Will he move up to heavyweight or stay at light heavyweight? But, something many still are worried about is Jones’ USADA issues and the picogram case. However, odds favor the light heavyweight champ not being suspended by USADA.

Is There Any Reason to Bet Yes?

Look, there is always a concern around a Jon Jones fight week that something will come up with USADA.

He has been plagued by tainted supplements and party drugs that have gotten him flagged and suspended previously. Add in the fact that it seems every test Jones is ‘pulsing’ and picogram levels showing up could be a concern.

But, USADA and UFC’s Jeff Novitzly are certain it is from a tainted supplement he was suspended previously before.

“Obviously there’s been some sort of indiscretion there,” Novitzky said during UFC 235 fight week. “At some point in time he’s used PEDs and I don’t think we can argue that. But as far as now: I think Jon is a clean athlete.”

But, if the levels of picograms start to increase, is that when the UFC and USADA start to look further into it? Well, it seems unlikely now as Jones went through the entire UFC 239 lead up and fight week with no pulsing or any problems.

So, it is rather certain that the issues are behind him, which means he likely won’t be suspended. However, there could be some value on yes if you think he will pop again, which to me seems highly unlikely as Jones has stated he is making up for the lost time and doesn’t sound like he is one to use PEDs anymore.

Pick: No (-1000)
