- RJ Barrett leads a strong Canadian contingent into the 2019 NBA Draft
- An up-for-grabs NBA title next season could lead to a significant amount of player movement
- We identify the best prop picks for the draft
The Toronto Raptors’ parade route had not even been completely planned when the Los Angeles Lakers proceeded to kick off the arms race for next season in fantastic style.
The acquisition of the Pelicans’ Anthony Davis may have been the biggest piece on the move, but within that haul was the fourth pick of the 2019 NBA Draft, perhaps a sign of things to come this Thursday.
With that, oddsmakers have lined up a bevy of 2019 NBA Draft props to make your viewing experience even more enjoyable – and profitable.

If you’re wondering why this number seems low, you’re onto something. The NBA announced last week that no less than 47 international players had withdrawn their names from consideration for the upcoming draft. Most draft boards have four international players projected to get selected in the top 60.

France’s Seko Udoumbouya and Goga Bitadze from Georgia are projected to both go within the first 20 or so picks. It’s the second round that kind of spooks me. Croatia’s Luka Samanic and Lithuania’s Deividas Sirvydis have top-40 projections themselves, but the second round is always a crap shoot. I would prefer a stay away, but if you’re going to make me pick I’m taking the over.

Whoa, Canada! Led by super frosh RJ Barrett – who’s basically a lock at the Knicks at no. 3 barring a wild trade – there are seven Canucks on the draft board. Barrett and Gonzaga forward Brandon Clarke should be top-10 picks, while Nickeil Alexander-Walker shouldn’t be that far behind.

Arizona State’s Luguentz Dort should be a mid-20’s selection, but this bet will likely hinge on where you think Florida State big man Mfiondu Kabengele is going. He’s hovering around that final pick of the first round (30), as far down as 32-33. I’m erring on the side of caution on this one. You should too.
Pick: Under 4.5 (-120)

Stand up, Canada. Outside the US, more Canadians dotted NBA rosters last season than players from any other nation. It’s been quite a journey. Just nine Canadians were drafted from 1983-2009, a number that skyrocketed to 18 from 2010-2018.
Trolling fans everywhere he goes, Michigan freshman Ignas Brazdeikis is the villain of #MarchMadness pic.twitter.com/kvcb2OFoqs

Rounding out the rest of the Canadians eligible for 2019 are Michigan freshman Ignas Brazdeikis and Vandy big man Simi Shittu. Brazdeikis is the key. He’s projected in the bottom-10 of the draft. If teams covet some good shooting with limited athleticism, he might have just enough other intangibles to stick in the Association. It’s enough to net you the over.
Pick: Over 5.5 (+200)

2018 is the actual outlier of NBA Draft day trading. The eight deals were the lowest output in the past five years, and marked the only year in that span where the deals didn’t surpass double digits. There’s potential for a lot of moving and shaking, particularly because there are teams with multiple picks (Atlanta and Boston), who can tack pieces and draft capital to move up into the gold of the draft, which is in the top four.
The Doncic-Trae Young deal MIGHT replace the PG13-Oladipo deal as the best win-win trade

The Kevin Durant injury and Anthony Davis trade have sort of taken some steam out of the fireworks show we were expecting in Brooklyn. While the deals will again surpass the double digits, I’m guessing the figure just falls short of the over.
Pick: Under (-120)

The key cogs of the 2019 NCAA National Champions all bring something strong to the table in upcoming draft. De’Andre Hunter is a lock for the lottery, dropping no lower than eighth, projecting to be a sturdy 3-and-D wing with offensive upside. Ty Jerome brings a wealth of playmaking and shooting ability to the table. At 6’5″, he’ll be pressed to match NBA game speed, but he thinks the game very well, enough to land in the 20’s.
Kyle Guy @kylejguy5 played well in the NBA Draft combine scrimmages 🔥 showed his ability to make plays and create for himself. Looking forward to seeing where he falls in the draft @UVAMensHoops pic.twitter.com/hcjfHCZ4sC

Kyle Guy, fresh off earning Most Outstanding Player in the NCAA Tournament, could be the odd man out. He’s not on the board in many mock drafts. That doesn’t mean he can’t catch on to a team and make his skill set useful at the NBA level, it just won’t be as a draft pick.
Pick: Under 2.5 (-300)

There are 19 freshmen that are hoping to have their name called on draft night, and many of them are dotting the top of the lottery. Of course, that list is lead by Zion Williamson, Ja Morant, Barrett, and Darius Garland, who could go 1-2-3-4. Is there enough steam for nine more one-and-doners to be taken with the other 26 picks?

Well, here goes (in no particular order): Coby White, Cam Reddish, Jaxson Hayes, Nassir Little, Romeo Langford, Keldon Johnson, Tyler Herro, Bol Bol, Kevin Porter, and Louis King. That’s quite the youth movement. We’ll take it.
Pick: Over 12.5 (-120)
