The Boston Celtics have used the last few weeks to level up. After a sluggish start to the year, the C’s have ripped off eight straight wins, climbing to sixth in the East and above the play-in.
Their opponent Tuesday night has also levelled up, but the Philadelphia 76ers will have to wait until after the All-Star break to see if James Harden is the missing piece to their title aspirations.
That’s part of the reason why Philly finds itself as 1.5-point home underdogs against a team with a losing road record (13-15).

Jayson Tatum led the way, putting up 38 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Jaylen Brown chipped in with 17 points and nine rebounds, part of four other Celtics scoring in double-digits to support Tatum.
It was another not-so-close decision Boston has had on this streak. It was their fifth win by at least double-digits, and they have enjoyed a 17.4 point differential.

They’ve been getting it done defensively, holding teams to 95 points per game, which would easily rank as the best mark in basketball in this small sample. They are holding teams to 38.9% shooting from the field, including 29.7% from three-point range.
Daniel Theis, acquired at the trade deadline, will be a game-time decision. He has yet to play since being re-acquired by Boston.

It helps when you’ve got a superstar already in the fold doing work. In fact, Joel Embiid’s been so good, he’s the betting favorite in the current 2022 NBA MVP odds.
He showcased again Saturday night, dropping a triple-double of 40 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists in a 103-93 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. That’s a game after dropped 25 points, 19 rebounds and four assists in a 100-87 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Tyrese Maxey, suddenly thrust into a key role as part of the new Philly core around Embid, Harden and Tobias Harris, was the second-leading scorer, putting up 16 points on 6-for-12 shooting against Cleveland. He had 24 points and five rebounds against OKC.
Harden is still dealing with a hamstring ailment that’s had him down his last few games in Brooklyn. The earliest he could suit up for Philly would be Feb 25 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

This will be fourth and final meeting between these Atlantic Division rivals this season. After dropping the first meeting 88-87, Philadelphia has won the next two. They picked up a 108-103 W in Boston, and doubled-up in Philly, winning 111-99.
