  • Boston is seeking a 10th straight win; they are the current top seed in the NBA
  • Read below for the Celtics vs Bulls preview, with odds and predictions

The Boston Celtics (13-3, 7-2 away) are showing no effects of an NBA Finals hangover.

They’ll look for a 10th straight win as they visit the Chicago Bulls (6-10, 4-5 home), who are trying to avoid a fifth straight loss.

Boston, who currently trail only the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2023 NBA Championship odds, are 6-point road favorites in the NBA odds.

It all gets underway Monday (Nov 21) at 8pm ET from the United Center. You can watch the game live on NBA League Pass.

Boston Betting Outlook

After a 2-2 road start, the Celtics have ripped off five wins in a row away from TD Garden, including last game, a 117-109 win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Jaylen Brown led the way with 27 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, while co-running mate Jayson Tatum — one of the top picks in the 2023 NBA MVP odds — added 19 points, 10 assists and seven boards.

Remember when there was talk about Tatum and Brown not being able to coexist? That storyline has been stuffed away, as the two stars are arguably the best 1-2 punch in the NBA.

One of the two have led the C’s in scoring in every game this season and Tatum (30.3ppg) and Brown (25.3ppg) are they only two teammates in the top 13 of league scoring.

Boston is crushing offensively, second in the league in scoring at 120.2 points per game, and along with the SacTo Kings, are the only teams to be putting up 120+ a night. They’re also top-3 in both field goal and three-point shooting, and own the league’s best point differential (+7.2).

The Celts’ offense has been so good that little talk has been made about their defense, which has been absolutely middle-of-the-pack, ranking 15th in points allowed, with not one top-10 spot in any of the top defensive categories.

Chicago Betting Outlook

After a so-so start to the year the Bulls have dropped four straight, including a 108-107 loss to the Orlando Magic.

The loss garnered more  headlines for Billy Donovan benching Zach LaVine in the fourth quarter than the Bulls nearly pulling off a win, after trailing by as many as 19 points in the third quarter.

A two-time All-Star, LaVine shot just 1-for-14 from the field, including 0-for-5 from downtown, and finished with just four points in 25 minutes.

Chicago’s other star, DeMar DeRozan, had no such problem cooking. DD tallied 41 points and four rebounds in 44 minutes of work, almost pulling out an amazing comeback win, save for a Jalen Suggs buzzer beater.

The Bulls have struggled on both sides of the court. Their offense is just 19th in scoring, and are bottom-half in both shooting from the field and downtown. Defensively, Chicago is just outside the top 10 in defensive rating and points allowed, but they have been punctured from deep.

Teams are shooting 38.6% from three-point range, the 2nd-worst mark in the league. To put that into context, each Bulls opponent turns into the 4th-best three-point shooting team in the NBA.

Celtics vs Bulls Prediction

This is the second meeting between these two teams, with Chicago handing Boston one of their three losses on the season with a 120-102 win on October 24. This has been Boston’s only slump, as that was the start of three losses in four games, before they started their winning streak.

Hard to believe, but the C’s have had their problems with this head-to-head, running a 1-6 mark against the spread in the last seven meetings.

More recently, however, the Celtics are 4-0 ATS in their last four against teams with a losing record.

It’s the last of Boston’s three-game road trip, and there’s definite trap-game vibes. Couple that with the fact this is Chicago’s last home game before a 6-game road odyssey, and LaVine needing a bounce back, and that line does seem a little steep.

I think Boston wins, but Chicago keeps it close.
