One more win, and the Los Angeles Lakers will knock out the 2-seed in the West’s NBA Playoff Bracket.

That’s the scenario facing the Memphis Grizzlies, who return home empty-handed from an LA trip, and now find themselves down 3-1 in their best-of-7 series.

While it’s not insurmountable, only 13 teams in NBA playoff history have overcome this deficit.

Yet, oddsmakers believe there’s still some life in the Grizz, who are 4-point home favorites, and -170 on the moneyline, an implied win probability of 62.96%. The game features a total of 222 points, 1.5 points more than Game 4.

Grizzlies vs Lakers Game 5 Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Los Angeles Lakers +4.0 (-110) +145 O 222 (-110)
Memphis Grizzlies -4.0 (-110) -170 U 222 (-110)

Game 5 goes Wednesday (April 26) at 7:30pm ET from FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee. You can watch the game live on TNT.

The Lakers are 13-3 in their last 16, dating back to the regular season, but one of those losses was in Game 2 at Memphis where the Grizzlies owned the NBA’s best home record at 35-6.

Los Angeles Betting Preview

Just when we thought we’d seen everything LeBron James could possibly accomplish in the NBA playoffs, the King uncorked a first-ever in a 117-111 OT win to push the Grizzlies to the brink.

LeBron finished the game with 22 points, 20 rebounds, seven assists and a pair of blocks. It’s the first 20-20 game of his career, and the first Laker to do it since Shaquille O’Neal. His high-banker on a drive with under a second left pushed the game to extra time.

The supporting cast was stellar, with every starter scoring in double figures, and six overall. Austin Reaves had a team-high 23 points, six assists and four boards, while Anthony Davis had 12 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and two blocks.

AD was hobbled for much of the second half with pain on his side/hip area, but there’s little doubt he’s a go Wednesday.

Their defense has been stellar in the series, ranking first in field-goal shooting defense (41.6%) and second in three-point D, holding Memphis to 30.1%.

Memphis Betting Preview

The Grizzlies had themselves a 7-point lead with 5+ minutes to go in the fourth quarter, but they couldn’t seal the deal.

Desmond Bane did much of the heavy lifting, pouring in a game-high 36 points, with seven rebounds and three assists. Ja Morant shot just 8-for-24 from the field for 19 points, adding seven assists and three steals, but re-injured his right hand on a second-half drive.

Jaren Jackson Jr had 14 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks. Despite outscoring the Lakers in the paint (58-54), Memphis could not buy a bucket from distance, shooting an abysmal 9-for-42 from three-point range, a paltry 21.4% clip.

Big-talking Dillon Brooks has been a non-factor since calling LeBron old after a Game 2 win. He was ejected in Game 3, and had 11 points in Game 4. He’s averaging 11.3 points in the series, shooting 33.3% from the field and 22.2% from 3-point range.

Lakers vs Grizzlies Prop Bets & Predictions

If there’s one knock on James in this series, it’s his inability to get it cooking from downtown. He’s just 5-for-27 in the series, an 18.5% mark, and he’s only hit two triples in the last three games. Target him to go under at -140 odds.

On the other hand, Jarred Vanderbilt only shoots wide-open threes. He hit 2-for-5 last game, and hitting one pays out at +150.

We’ve hit on Brooks going under in two straight, so why stop now? Taking him to go under 12.5 points pays out at +100.

As for this matchup, the Lakers have gone 4-1 against the spread in the last five against the Grizzlies, though they are only 3-7 ATS in their last 10 at FedEx.

Even though Memphis is 20-18-1 ATS as a home favorite and LA is 15-18-1 ATS as a road underdog, the Lakers aren’t playing. Look for them to close this out in style.

Pick:

  • Lakers +4 (-110); 1.5 units to win 1.36 units
