A potential preview of the 9-vs-10 Play-In Game in the Western Conference rounds out Tuesday’s NBA schedule as the Golden State Warriors (43-35, 23-16 away, 41-35- 2 ATS) visit the Los Angeles Lakers (45-34, 28-13 home, 36-43 ATS) at crypto.com Arena at 7:10 pm PT/10:10 pm ET.

The Lakers, who are just 1.5 games back of a top-six spot in the conference, are listed as slight favorites over the Warriors on Tuesday night.

While the Lakers are trying to reel in the likes of the Pelicans, Suns, and Kings – who are all within a game and a half of LA in the standings – the #10 Warriors are trying to track down the #9 Lakers and at least get home-court advantage in the 9-vs-10 Play-In Game. The Dubs are currently 1.5 games behind LA for the #9 seed in the West in the NBA playoff bracket.

Warriors Pick-Up Seventh Win in Eight Games

Despite resting Steph Curry (26.5 PPG, 5.0 APG, 4.4 RPG) against Utah on Sunday, Golden State cruised to a 118-110 victory over the Jazz, taking a 20-point lead into the fourth quarter. Back in the starting lineup for the night, Klay Thompson put on a vintage performance with 32 points on 12-of-23 shooting, including 6-of-13 from three.

The Dubs had been riding a six-game win streak until a narrow 108-106 loss in Dallas on April 5. They now own a comfortable five-game lead on #11-seed Houston, which had gotten within a game of the Warriors last week during an 11-game win streak.

While the Warriors trail the Lakers in the standings, they actually own a better Offensive Rating (116.8, 11th vs 115.2, 15th) and slightly better Defensive Rating (114.6, 14th vs 114.7, 16th). Golden State’s +2.4 point differential is seventh in the West.

Lakers Four-Game Win Streak Ended by T-Wolves

Los Angeles has been one of the hottest teams in the NBA over the past three weeks. They had won four straight and nine of ten prior to a 127-117 setback at home to Minnesota last time out on Sunday. LeBron James (25.4 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 8.2 APG) missed the game with flu-like symptoms and is officially “questionable” for Tuesday’s game against Golden State, though the spread suggests that oddsmakers believe James will play.

Anthony Davis (24.5 PPG, 12.6 RPG) played just 12 minutes against Minnesota before exiting with an eye injury. He is also questionable for Tuesday’s game. Rui Hachimura finished with a team-high 30 points against the T-Wolves on 11-of-17 shooting.

A win on Tuesday would move the Lakers into a virtual tie with the Kings for the #8 seed, but Sacramento would have two games in hand.

The Lakers have dropped two of three to Golden State this season. After earning a thrilling 145-144 OT win in the Bay Area in late January, the Lakers lost 128-110 at the Warriors on Feb. 22 and 128-121 at home on Mar. 16.

LeBron and AD are both listed in the Warriors/Lakers player props despite being listed as questionable. Curry (26.5) has the highest point total but James (24.5) and Davis (23.5) are close behind. Davis also has a monstrous rebound total of 13.5 O/U.

Warriors vs Lakers Prediction

It’s hard to back the Lakers as home favorites without knowing exactly how healthy James and Davis are. As mentioned, the odds suggest both will play and be effective, but there isn’t a lot of clarity on the health situation for either.

The way the Warriors have played against the Lakers in the last two head-to-head matchups, I am going to back the Dubs to win a third straight against their in-state rivals.
