Prop #1: Brandon Ingram Over 22.5 Points
Betting overs on player props is not something I usually do, but it’s hard to resist picking on the Minnesota Timberwolves’ atrocious defense. Minny ranks fourth worst in points allowed, and are yielding the league’s sixth highest field goal percentage to enemy shooters. They’ve surrendered at least 124 points seven times already entering play on Friday, which sets up perfectly for New Orleans’ Brandon Ingram.

The lanky small forward is fresh off one of his most efficient shooting performances of the season, knocking down 57.1% of his looks against a tough Utah Jazz defense. He’s launched at least 15 attempts in four of his past five games, shooting 18 times in three of those outings. He’s regained his outside touch, burying 7 of his past 14 long range attempts, and has a career high usage rate through 14 games.

Also working in his favor is the fast paced nature of Timberwolves games. Only six teams play at a faster pace than Minnesota, meaning increased possessions are coming Ingram’s and the Pelicans way.
Pick: Brandon Ingram Over 22.5 points (-114)
Prop #2: Andrew Wiggins Under 17.5 Points
While we want to target players facing the Timberwolves, it’s usually a good rule of thumb to avoid players against the Utah Jazz. Utah is limiting enemy shooters to the lowest field goal percentage in the West (44.1%), and only two teams in the entire league allow fewer points per game.
That spells trouble for Golden State’s Andrew Wiggins, who despite being in the midst of a fantastic stretch of ball, is worth fading on Saturday.

Wiggins has been getting it done with his jumper lately and is shooting a career-high 39.7% from beyond the arc. The Jazz are sixth best at defending the three, and should they lock down the Canadian, don’t expect him to get to the hoop. He’s gotten to the line three or fewer times in six of his past nine games, and when he does get there he’s knocking down only 64.1% of his free looks.
Betting on him to eclipse this number is betting on his extreme efficiency to continue and that’s not something I’m willing to do. Also working against him is Utah’s slow, methodical pace. Only three teams play slower than Utah, which should cost Golden State a few possessions in this matchup.
Pick: Andrew Wiggins Under 17.5 points (-118)
