To suggest that the Detroit Pistons (5-17, 10-10-2 ATS) are in a slump when facing the New York Knicks (9-11, 8-11-1 ATS) would be to master understatement.  The Knicks are 10-0 straight up in the last 10 games against the Pistons.

That includes two victories already this season, both at Madison Square Garden. New York topped Detroit 130-106 on October 21 and beat the Pistons again on November 11 by a 121-112 count.

Oddsmakers are sticking with what’s working as these two teams switch locales to Detroit. The Knicks are set as 4-point road favorites. New York is 5-0 SU in the last five road games vs the Pistons.

Neither of the Knicks (+20000) or Pistons (+100000) are what would be classified as contenders in the NBA championship odds.

New York Knicks Betting Trends

The big three for the Knicks are looming large in head-to-head meetings with the Pistons this season. Shooting guard RJ Barrett is averaging 24 points and 4.5 assists per game facing Detroit. Point guard Jalen Brunson has been good for 21.5 points and 6.5 assists per game. Meanwhile, power forward Julius Randle is scoring 18.0 PPG and pulling down 7.0 rebounds per game. Both Barrett (18-of-32, .563) and Brunson (14-of-27, .519) are hitting over 50% of their field goals.

New York is the #9 offense in the NBA. The Knicks are scoring 114.6 points per game. But they are the league’s worst 3-point shooters, hitting on just 31.6% of shots from beyond the arc.

The Knicks just got guards Cam Reddish and Derrick Rose back from the injury list following multi-game absences. However, PG Immanuel Quickley is being listed as questionable for Tuesday’s game against the Pistons.

Quickley departed Sunday’s loss to Memphis with a sore right knee. He’s fifth on the team in scoring (9.4 points per game), third in assists (3.2) and sixth in rebounds (4.5) while averaging 22.7 minutes per appearance.

Detroit Pistons Betting Trends

Detroit has lost three in a row SU at home. The Pistons are 4-16 SU as a betting underdog this season.

Pistons second-year point guard Cade Cunningham is believed to have suffered a stress fracture in his shin and expectations are that he’ll be sidelined indefinitely. Small forward Bogdan Bogdanovic (knee), center Isaiah Stewart (toe) and point guard Jaden Ivey (knee) are listed as questionable for this game.

Filling in for Cunningham, Killian Hayes is averaging 10.8 points, 6.1 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game while shooting 38.9 percent from the floor and 36.8 percent from 3-point range.

Knicks vs Pistons Prediction

The Knicks are 8-1-1 ATS in the past 10 games against the Pistons. But they are just 1-1-1 ATS in the last three against Detroit, including a 1-0-1 slate this season. New York is 4-1 ATS in the past five games played at Detroit.

The Knicks don’t fare anywhere near as well against the rest of the NBA like they do when facing Detroit. In their last five games, the Knicks are 1-4 ATS. New York is 1-6-1 ATS in the last eight games vs Eastern Conference opposition.

Detroit has got to 100 points just four times during the 10-game losing streak to New York. However, the Pistons have hit the century mark in each of the past three games against the Knicks.

While the Pistons have won just two of their last 11 games, Detroit is 4-1 ATS in the past five games. The Pistons are 4-4-1 ATS at home this season.

Pick: New York Knicks -4 (-110)
