In the more traditional futures, Sacramento is currently the eighth-favorite in the NBA Western Conference odds (+1800) and a  +4150 bet in the NBA championship odds (13th-favorite). The Pelicans are 15th in the title odds (+5450) and tenth in the odds to win the West (+2300).

Kings Bounce Back After Embarrassing Loss to Clippers

While the Kings still have a solid 11-7 overall record, including a 6-2 mark at home, they were pasted 131-117 by the Clippers on Wednesday in a game they trailed by 22 points at halftime. But Sacramento didn’t let that sour taste linger, responding with a  123-117 win over the reigning-champion Nuggets on Friday. As he tends to do when he’s healthy, De’Aaron Fox led the Kings with 26 points and an outlandish 16 assists, along with four rebounds and three steals.

Malik Monk also had 26 points off the bench while Domantas Sabonis continued to be a force in the post with 17 points, 15 rebounds, and seven assists.

The Kings continue to be one of the best rebounding teams in the league, boasting a 63.0 adjusted rebound chance percentage per NBA.com, which is third-best in the Association. They should have a big edge on the glass against New Orleans, which ranks just 20th in that category at 59.7%.

Pelicans’ Road Woes Continue

After winning their first two road games of the season over Memphis and OKC, the Pelicans are just 1-6 away from home since, including three straight losses to the Jazz (twice) and Bulls, who are a combined 14-27. Struggles on the road plagued New Orleans all last season, as well, when they went 27-14 at home and 15-26 away.

That said, New Orleans has been dealing with significant injuries all season, but will field a nearly-full lineup tonight. CJ McCollum (21.1 PPG, 5.9 APG) has only managed to play eight games so far this year, and the Pels are 6-2 with him in the lineup, including the two early-season road wins.

McCollum is one of just three Pelicans who’s averaging over 20 points per game, along with Zion Williamson (23.5 PPG, 5.8 RPG) and Brandon Ingram (23.4 PPG, 5.3 APG). He was held out of New Orleans’ loss to the Bulls on Saturday, but he doesn’t have an injury designation in Monday’s NBA lineups and he managed 38 minutes against San Antonio on Friday.

Fox has the highest over/under point total in Monday’s game at 27.5. Williamson leads the Pelicans players at 23.5 in Monday’s NBA player props followed closely by Ingram at 21.5. McCollum is listed at just 17.5, well below his season average.

Pelicans vs Kings Prediction

The Pelicans’ road record needs to be viewed in context; they haven’t been fully healthy for the vast majority of their road games. But this is also much the same team that struggled on the road all of last season, and they are facing a Sacramento squad that thrives on its home court and is also fully healthy.

Three-and-a-half points is not too many to lay with the Kings, who just rolled the defending NBA champs on this floor. (Sacramento led the Denver game by 14 at halftime and never trailed thereafter.)

Pelicans vs Kings pick: Kings -3.5 (-110)

Sascha Paruk’s 2023-24 NBA betting record:

  • 7-3-2 ATS (+3.35 units)
  • 2-2 ML (-0.26 units)
  • 3-7 player props (-4.27 units)

All wagers one unit unless expressly stated otherwise.
