The 54-14 Phoenix Suns, who are fresh off a shellacking of the Los Angeles Lakers at home, head south Tuesday to visit the New Orleans Pelicans at the Smoothie King Center. The tip-off is scheduled for 8pm ET.

Phoenix embarrassed the Lakeshow Sunday, beating them by 29 points behind a big performance from Devin Booker. The Pels, meanwhile, also took care of business against the Houston Rockets. That win broke a four-game losing streak.

The Suns had won three in a row vs New Orleans until their last meeting in February, with CJ McCollum’s 32 points propelling his team to a 117-102 victory in the desert.

Suns Betting Analysis

After a loss to the Raptors on Friday, the Suns bounced back with authority and absolutely torched the Lakers over the weekend. It was their sixth straight win against Frank Vogel’s squad and frankly, this game was out of hand by the end of the first quarter.

Phoenix was up 48-22 heading into the second, and LA really never made it close.

That opening period set the tone for Monty Williams’ group, dishing out 14 assists while shooting 7-for-12 from long range and committing no turnovers. They were in cruise control from that point on. Devin Booker was the leading catalyst for the Suns, doing a bit of everything. He dropped 30 points and dished out 10 dimes.

The rest of the rotation stepped up to the plate as well though, with five others finishing in double-figures. Deandre Ayton imposed his will on the Lakers’ small-ball lineup, pouring in 23 points and snatching 16 rebounds.

To understand just how badly Phoenix punished Los Angeles in the paint, they outscored them 76-36. After such a terrific all-around performance, the Suns will be brimming with confidence for Tuesday’s matchup.

Pelicans Betting Analysis

New Orleans is currently a game and a half above the Portland Trail Blazers for the final play-in spot, and although the latter is struggling immensely, the Pelicans need to keep winning. They’re still at -650 odds to miss the 2022 NBA Playoffs.

They actually had a nice four-game unbeaten run going before hitting a cold streak last week. But, Willie Green’s group got back in the win column against the Rockets, despite being without CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram.

In fact, CJ is questionable for this contest as he remains in health and safety protocols, while Ingram is out with a hamstring injury.

That’s the Pels’ two best players sidelined, but it was refreshing to see others rise to the occasion versus Houston. Big man Jonas Valanciunas enjoyed a standout performance, showing out for a team-high 32 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Naji Marshall and Jaxson Hayes were also impressive, posting 17 and 21 points, respectively.

To be honest, the Rockets were extremely sloppy and essentially handed the Pels this win. They committed a total of 24 turnovers which translated into 30 points for NOLA. Green’s team also tallied 17 steals and fully capitalized off the poor defense of their opponents.

However, it will be the polar opposite on Tuesday against the best team in the Association.

Suns vs Pelicans Prediction

I know the Pelicans beat Phoenix in their most recent matchup, but that’s not going to happen here. Without McCollum and Ingram, New Orleans doesn’t stand a chance. This pick is an absolute no-brainer. Take the Suns to cover on the road.

Pick: Suns -5 (-110)
