Two top-five teams in the Western Conference do battle at the Chase Center on Tuesday night, with the second place (34-13) Warriors squaring off against fifth seeded Mavericks (27-20).
Big D won the only meeting this season 99-82 three weeks ago, which is something of a recent trend, as the Mavs have won seven of their last eight against G-State.
They may be without the services of some key players for this one, but oddsmakers still list the Warriors as 3.5-point favorites. Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are questionable for the contest while their counterparts come in relatively healthy.
The game tips off at 10pm ET, and is the second half of TNT’s Tuesday double-header.

Steph Curry’s Recent Struggles
Characterizing Steph Curry as struggling might be overstating things a little, but based on how he was playing at the start of the season, his recent play hasn’t been up to his normal standards.
In the last six games, he’s only scored more than 22 points in one of them, and he’s been gone just 5-for-26 from downtown in the last two outings. Four of his six lowest offensive outputs of the campaign have occurred this month.

After starting the season like gangbusters at 18-2, the Warriors cooled off to a 16-11 record in the following 27 games, including dropping six of nine games before winning their last two.
The two-time MVP and current betting favorite in the 2022 NBA MVP odds took the team on his back with a huge buzzer-beater to take down the Houston Rockets, who are the worst team in the Western Conference.
Surprisingly, it was his first buzzer beater of his illustrious career.

With other key cogs expected to miss the contest, will he try to put too much on his shoulders? In their January 5th affair, he made just 5-of-24 field goals, recording 14 points.
Healthy Doncic Pacing Mavericks
When Luka Doncic missed time this season due to a lingering ankle injury, it would stand to reason that the team would suffer in the absence of their best player. In 15 games without their star, they’ve stumbled to a 6-9 record. With him in the lineup, they’re 21-11.
Their recent surge that has seen them win 12 of their last 15 games, lifting them up to fifth in the West, compared to when they were ninth with a 15-17 mark.

He’s been a man possessed, and that has also helped out Kristaps Porzingis, who has averaged over 16.5 points in his five games since he’s returned after being activated off the COVID-19 list.

Key Injuries To Monitor
Since his return following a lengthy injury related layoff, Thompson has been effective for the Warriors in six games, where he’s averaged nearly 15 points a night. He’s missed the last two because of knee soreness and his status for Tuesday is in question.
Klay Thompson did not practice today, per Steve Kerr. He’s considered questionable for tomorrow’s game against the Mavericks.

Green is out indefinitely and Jason Wiseman has missed the whole season, but G-State isn’t searching for other options, according to sources. For Dallas, Sterling Brown (foot) and Frank Ntilikina (illness) are listed as out.

The Mavs have won seven of their last eight against the Warriors, including their last four as visitors. The Warriors are a league best 21-4 at home while Dallas is just 12-11 away from home.
Both teams should have title hopes, and this could be a playoff preview at some point, according to the latest NBA Western Conference odds.
Both teams have struggled to hit the over this season, with Dallas 13-33-1 and the Warriors 17-29-1. Three of the last four G-State games have been under the 211.5 mark, while the Mavs last seven contests have also been under 211.5.
