They might be two of the top seven teams in the 2023 NBA Championship odds, but this won’t resemble anything close to a heavyweight matchup.

The Brooklyn Nets (19-12. 10-5 home) are surging, seeking a seventh straight win as they host the Golden State Warriors (15-17, 13-15 away).

GState will be playing the second night of a back-to-back, after getting obliterated in New York. That means Klay Thompson will sit for right knee injury management. He’ll be joining splash brother Steph Curry (shoulder) on the sidelines, as well as wing Andrew Wiggins (groin).

The Warriors are wrapping up a grueling six-game road trip, which has yielded just one win so far.

The NBA odds have Brooklyn as hefty 11.5-point favorites, and +480 on the moneyline.

It’s BK’s first game back after a perfect 4-0 road trip. They’re a solid fourth in the East, and are one of only four teams in the conference with winning records both home (10-5) and away (9-7).

Golden State Betting Outlook

After an impressive win in Toronto — just their third on the road this season — it appeared the Warriors might have found a successful formula away from Chase Center. Instead, they were blown out of MSG Tuesday night, losing 132-94 to the Knicks.

It was the third straight game without Curry, but it was their defense that let them down again. That’s the second-highest point total they’ve allowed this season, and they’re giving up 122.6 points per game on this trip.

The Warriors turned the ball over 20 times, leading to 36 New York points. They were also beaten up inside, with the Knicks outscoring them 50-38 in the paint.

Jordan Poole led the team in scoring with 26 points, while Thompson added 11 points and four rebounds. Jonathan Kuminga had 13 points off the bench, with four boards and four dimes.

Along with Curry, Golden State was missing JaMychal Green (illness) and Donte DiVincenzo (illness). They weren’t listed on the injury report for Wednesday, and could play.

Brooklyn Betting Outlook

As it’s gotten down to strictly basketball, the Brooklyn Nets are business.

Last time out, they overcame a 17-point halftime deficit to beat the Pistons 124-121. Kevin Durant led the way with a game-high 43 points on 14-for-22 shooting, with six rebounds.

Durant has been blistering in December, scoring 30.3 points per game on 60.6% shooting in seven games. His lowest output has been 28 in that streak.

Kyrie Irving was just as lethal in Detroit, dropping 38 points on 13-for-23 from the field, adding six boards and three dimes.

Brooklyn has shown major offensive firepower during this six-game run, averaging 122.2 points per game. However, the Nets aren’t blowing teams out of the water. In fact, they’ve won just once by double digits, with the other five games decided by six points or less.

Even without the Splash Brothers, Golden State may still be able to exploit one of Brooklyn’s major defensive weaknesses: three-point shooting D. The Nets are 28th, allowing teams to shoot 37.6% from distance on the season.

Warriors vs Nets Prediction

There’s a distinct possibility the Warriors rest Draymond Green too, as he’s sat out the second night of back-to-backs a few times already this season.

The Warriors are 2-4 playing that second consecutive game, and just 3-3 against the spread.

Brooklyn hasn’t been a great wager as a home favorite, running a 5-7-1 mark ATS, but the Nets have really found their form following Irving’s return to the lineup.

Since dropping their first game with Kyrie, Brooklyn has proceeded to go 11-2 in their next 13. In the last five games, he’s gone for at least 32 points four times.

It feels like KD and Kyrie slicing through the league’s fifth-worst scoring defense, with little resistance from a depleted Warriors’ roster.

Pick:

  • Nets -11.5 (-110); 1 unit to win 0.91 units
  • NBA Betting Record: 116-14 ATS, 1-1 ML, 2-3 o/u, 0-2 parlays; -3.01 units
