West Virginia Struggling to Cover Spread

Not only are the Mountaineers winless in their last four, but from a betting perspective, they haven’t been able to cover the spread in six consecutive contests. At one point, West Virginia looked like a great team to bet ATS, owning a 7-3 record that’s now fallen to 7-9.

Shooting has been a big issue for Bob Huggins side of late. In their most recent loss to Baylor, they missed their first 10 attempts from three-point range. Overall, the Mountaineers have hit 38% from the floor since coming back from the holidays.

Even making free throws have been difficult during this cold streak as they’ve made just 62.2% of their attempts from the charity stripe in the last four. Considering they’ve gone to the line an average of 31.8 times during this skid and lost three of those games by seven or less points, a few more swishes from the line might’ve propelled West Virginia to a victory or two.

Oklahoma Sooners Betting Outlook

Although they play at a very slow tempo, Oklahoma are very efficient scoring the ball. With a 55.8 effective field goal percentage according to KenPom, they rank 17th overall in the nation.

You couldn’t find two teams that are more evenly matched in the college basketball odds than these Big 12 rivals, but the Sooners have owned the head-to-head as of late, winning each of their last six meetings.

Although Oklahoma have lost three of their last four, a couple of those defeats were to Texas and Kansas, two squads who are amongst sportsbooks’ favorites in the odds to win the NCAA tournament.

Guard Grant Sherfield is the focal point on offense for Oklahoma. The senior averages 17.4 points per game, good for fifth in the conference and is one of the best long distance snipers in the country. With a 45.4% stroke from beyond the arc, Sherfield ranks 16th in the nation in three-point percentage.

West Virginia vs Oklahoma Pick and Prediction

Both these sides are solid squads despite their recent run of defeats. Interestingly enough, the Mountaineers are 27th in the overall KenPom rankings, just a slot above the 28th ranked Sooners.

The Big 12 has eight teams in the top 30 according to KenPom, three more than any other conference in the country. At least one of these sides knows they’ll come out with a victory in the West Virginia vs Oklahoma odds on Saturday afternoon.

Our prediction is to take the home squad to win straight up. Although they’re 1-3 in their last four, Oklahoma lost those games by a combined eight points, so a victory was well in sight in each of those contests.

When you combine the fact they’re at home to go along with their six-game winning streak dating back to 2019 against West Virginia, the Sooners are the best pick for this clash.

Pick: Oklahoma Sooners Moneyline (-150)
