The SEC is a cruel and dangerous beast.

Coming off a shocking loss to LSU, the Crimson Tide will be itching to take the field on Saturday. Alabama lost 32-31 after giving up the game-winning 2-point conversion in Death Valley.

Meanwhile, Ole Miss will have had plenty of time to prepare for Alabama’s visit. The Rebels enjoyed their bye last week after beating Texas A&M 32-29 in their last match-up.

This Alabama vs Ole Miss showdown kicks off at 3:30pm ET on Saturday, November 12th over on CBS. Check out all the odds and our predictions below.

Alabama Betting Trends

Totalling two losses before the post-season is uncharted waters for the Crimson Tide. After all, Alabama have not lost three games in a season since 2010. Don’t expect that to change in 2022. Nick Saban will have his team fired up and ready to play after last week’s disappointment.

Bryce Young and his receivers have struggled to build any sort of momentum since the Heisman trophy winner returned from injury. Offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien will be looking to exploit a vulnerable Rebels rushing defense instead. After all, Ole Miss ranks 86th in the country against the run, allowing over 162 rushing yards per game on the season.

If Alabama wants to win this game, O’Brien would be smart to get the ball to Jahmyr Gibbs early and often. The Georgia Tech transfer has been impossible to tackle all season long. Gibbs has been the Crimson Tide’s most dangerous weapon this year, totalling 771 yards rushing and 6 touchdowns on nearly 7 yards per carry this season.

Nick Saban will be desperate for the Crimson Tide to solve their road woes. So far this season, mental mistakes and penalties have cost Alabama the opportunity for victory in both Knoxville and Baton Rouge.

Ole Miss Betting Trends

An early season surge had Ole Miss fans believing this could finally be the Rebels’ year. Barring a misstep against a suddenly resurgent LSU Tigers team in Death Valley, the Rebels have outscored opponents by an average of nearly 11 points per game on the season.

Ole Miss have dominated on the ground this year. The thunder-and-lightning tandem of freshman Quinshon Judkins and TCU transfer Zach Evans have beat up on opposing defenses to the tune of over 1,700 rushing yards. Additionally, quarterback Jaxson Dart has proven to be effective rushing the football, adding 412 yards on the ground himself.

Overall, the Rebels finished with a whopping 390 yards on the ground, and 530 total yards in their last victory against the Aggies. However, it’s unlikely they will be able to replicate that feat against Will Anderson Jr. and a dominant Alabama defensive line.

In the end, this one will be decided in the trenches. As a powerful 2nd-ranked Rebels rushing offense meets the Crimson Tide’s 10th-ranked rushing defense. That being said, bettors must be wary of backing Ole Miss at home. The Rebels are just 1-6 against the spread in their last seven home games.

Alabama vs Ole Miss Prediction

God bless Lane Kiffen and his ill-found confidence. This game has all the makings of a shootout, and it’s tough to back the arm of Jaxson Dart against Bryce Young and Alabama.

As you’ll recall, Nick Saban dominates his former assistants. Saban boasts a 25-2 record against former assistants, including a 42-21 victory over the Rebels just last year. Moreover, Alabama have defeated Kiffen’s Rebels by an average of 18 points per game and it’s unlikely Ole Miss can stop the bleeding on Saturday.

Take Alabama to bounce back and cover the spread Saturday.

Pick: Alabama -11.5 (-110)
