Jaxson Smith-Njigba Receiving Yards

Everybody will be tuning in on Saturday night when Notre Dame visits Ohio State. Most of the public will be waiting to see Ohio State wide receiver Jaxson Smith-Njigba light up the Fighting Irish after his heroic performance in the Rose Bowl. With Heisman favorite CJ Stroud tossing him the football, many expect Smith-Njigba to continue to destroy records and have a career year.

However, Notre Dame are now led by former defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman. The Ohio State alumni will have spent all summer game-planning on how to stop this high-flying attack. This starts with taking away the number one receiving threat in their offense, Jaxson Smith Njigba.

With the amount of NFL-level talent in Notre Dame’s secondary, it’s tough to envision JSN hitting over 100 yards in this one.

Pick: Jaxson Smith-Njigba UNDER 105.5 receiving yards (-114)

Zach Charbonnet Rushing Yards

UCLA starting quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson returns to school for his fifth season, which is great news for the Bruins. It’s also fantastic for those of us who love to bet on player rushing props. Thompson-Robinson ran an average of 13 times per game last season. He’s a dynamic threat with the football in his hands, who can create yards out of nothing.

Thompson-Robinson’s running threat puts a cap on the number of touches Zach Charbonnet will get in the running game. Especially early in the season against an overmatched opponent.  On top of that, head coach Chip Kelly remains committed to a two-back scheme and will want to see what he has behind Charbonnet on the depth chart. Bet against Zach Charbonnet hitting 100 yards against Bowling Green.

Pick: Zach Charbonnet UNDER 105.5 rushing yards (-108)

Bryce Young Passing Touchdowns

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner threw 3+ touchdowns in 10 of his starts last season.

Head coach Nick Saban rarely allows his team to fall into any sort of early season slump, it’s simply unacceptable for this Alabama program. Look for Bryce Young to come out slinging the football in this one. He’ll want to play with his new toy, Georgia transfer Jermaine Burton. Additionally, Utah State is extremely overmatched in this game and Young should have no problem carving up this secondary.

Pick: Bryce Young OVER 2.5 Passing touchdowns (-180)

Michael Mayer Anytime Touchdown Scorer

The junior Fighting Irish tight end should be amongst the best players in the country this season. Mayer is looking to boost his NFL draft stock straight out of the gate. There’s no better spot to do so than in primetime against the talented Ohio State defense.

Furthermore, Mayer should already be in sync with returning Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buchner. When the going gets tough in the red zone, Buchner will be looking for his big tight end. Bet on Michael Mayer to score at least one touchdown on Saturday night.

Pick: Michael Mayer Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+150)
