“The Game” is finally here!

However, this may be “The Game” on steroids. For the first time since 2006, Michigan and Ohio State each enter rivalry week undefeated. This year’s iteration is sure to provide plenty of fireworks, as a defacto national-title elimination game.

Michigan head to the Horseshoe after an epic 17-16 last-minute comeback victory over Illinois.

While Ohio State took care of business against Maryland last week, winning 43-30.

Gear up for “The Game” as it kicks off on Saturday at noon from Ohio Stadium on Fox. The National Weather Service calls for a chance of rain and snow on Saturday, but say conditions will be partly cloudy with a high of 53 degrees. Michigan Betting Trends

Jim Harbaugh will look to continue his winning ways against nemesis Ryan Day.

The fate of Michigan’s national title hopes rests in the knee of running back Blake Corum. The Heisman hopeful has been impossible to tackle all season, leading to an astounding 1457 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns thus far.

To win on Saturday, Michigan will have to control the clock and attempt to replicate last year’s victory. As you’ll recall, the Wolverines ran for 297 yards on 7.2 yards per carry against a woeful Ohio State run defense. With the status of Corum up in the air, Michigan fans will be holding their breath all week. This team will only go as far as Corum can take them.

Former five-star recruit J.J. McCarthy possesses exceptional talent. Having said that, he looks to be losing confidence in recent weeks, completing just over 50% of his passes. The question remains, can McCarthy make the throws required to shred this revamped Ohio State defense? Should Corum be limited in any way, the fate of this team rests on McCarthy’s arm. Is Michigan even prepared to lean further on their first-year starter? We’ll soon find out.

Since Harbaugh took charge in 2015, the Wolverines are 3-4 against the spread as road underdogs. Michigan is 0-2 in Ohio Stadium during that time. To pull off the upset in this one, the Wolverines will have to erase the spectre of “Games” past.

Ohio State Betting Trends

Ohio State has been counting down the days until it can exact its vengeance.

Few teams boast the offensive firepower of the Ohio State University. Led by Heisman trophy favorite CJ Stroud, this unit can explode at any time and are capable of putting up points in bunches.

The Buckeyes average an astounding 46.5 points per game on the strength of Stroud’s arm. The surefire future first-round NFL draft pick has taken his game to a new level in 2022. Stroud has thrown for 2,991 yards and 35 touchdowns on 66% passing so far.

While they possess far more depth than their rivals, Ohio State has injury problems of its own. Running backs Treveyon Henderson and Miyan Williams have both been banged up as of late, and may not play on Saturday. While Rose Bowl hero Jaxson Smith-Njigba has barely featured this season after suffering a hamstring injury in the season opener.

Ultimately, the Buckeyes are extremely tough to beat at Ohio Stadium. After all, Ohio State has won nine straight home games against Michigan, a streak that dates all the way back to the 2000 season. Moreover, the Buckeyes have won those games by an average of 14.9 points.

Michigan vs Ohio State Prediction

The spectacle, the famed battle songs, and an unhealthy degree of animosity will all be on display in Columbus. This year’s iteration of “The Game” will be one to remember. The victors could go on to a National Championship, while the losers will have to sweat out the College Football Playoff Committee’s decision on Selection Sunday.

Having said that, the betting trends are too difficult to ignore in this matchup. The over is 6-2 in the last eight Michigan vs Ohio State meetings in Columbus. Moreover, the over has hit in 16 of the last 21 matchups. This one could come down to the wire. Bet the over here.

Pick: Michigan vs Ohio State OVER 57 (-110)
