Once the Super Bowl matchup is set after the NFC and AFC Championship Games, the prop bets will start flowing in. You’ll be able to wager on everything from QB pass yards, number of touchdowns, the first team to score, and the coin toss.

In the two weeks leading up to the big game, we’ll breakdown a number of Super Bowl props right here at sportsbettingdime.com.

In the meantime, we’ll get you back into the prop-betting frame of mind with a prop for this weekend’s Divisional Playoffs.

PROP: Joe Flacco Total Passing Yards:

Over/Under 255

The New England pass defense is right in the middle of the pack keeping opponents to only 19.6 points per game, which is good enough for eighth in the league. The team also boasted 40 sacks this season (tied for 13th).

However, the Patriots are susceptible to big plays, giving up 62 plays of more than 20 yards (tied for third-worst in the NFL this season). The good news is only eight of those went for more than 40 yards; so, if there’s a takeaway from this, it’s that Bill Belichick’s teams can tackle.

Overall, the Patriots defense is giving up 239.8 passing yards per game, and an average of 7.2 yards per catch.

Switching over to Joe Flacco, the Ravens quarterback is averaging 249 yards passing yards per game, but the key when considering this prop is the average yardage of his completions: 7.2 yards, which is identical to what the Patriots’ defense is allowing this season.

Naturally, the success of the Ravens run game will affect Flacco’s passing attempts. The Patriots give up on average 104 yards per game (24th in the league), while Baltimore averages 126.2 yards rushing a game (eighth in the league).

Odds are the game will be close, which means, come crunch time, the Ravens will be passing. That’s why the over on Flacco’s passing yards is the play.
