For the third time this season, and the second time in as many weeks, the Ravens will face the Bengals in Cincinnati. It’s difficult to take away much from last week’s 27-16 victory by the Bengals, as Baltimore rested nearly all their key starters.

Cincinnati is drawing the majority of spread bets prior to this game according to the Ravens vs Bengals public betting splits, but the line is actually moving away from them. Cincy reached 9.5-point favorite status earlier this week, but that number is now a full point less.

That suggests Baltimore is drawing sharp action as underdogs. We’re not quite ready to hop on board the Ravens bandwagon in our Baltimore vs Cincinnati same-game parlay, but we do think John Harbaugh’s team can make life extremely difficult for Joe Mixon.

Joe Mixon Under 59.5 Rushing Yards

Since acquiring Roquan Smith, Baltimore’s defense ranks third in rushing expected points added. They grade out second overall in run defense for the season per DVOA, and have yielded fewer rushing yards per game than all but two teams.

Last week, their “B” team held Mixon to just 27 rushing yards on 11 carries. Mixon has been extremely boom or bust this season in general, failing to reach 60 rushing yards in eight of 14 starts. To make matters worse, the Bengals offensive line is a mess.

That unit ranks 23rd in run blocking per Pro Football Focus, and will have to face Baltimore without their starting right tackle La’el Collins, and their starting right guard Alex Cappa, two of their best linemen. Consider betting against Mixon in the Ravens vs Bengals player props.

Tyler Huntley Over 29.5 Rushing Yards

Lamar Jackson will miss his sixth straight game per the Ravens vs Bengals injury report. That means Tyler Huntley will be back under center, and if Baltimore is going to have any chance in this game, he’s going to have to make plays with his legs.

The Ravens have averaged only 13 points without Jackson this season, while Huntley ranks 36th among 52 qualified QB’s in EPA per play and 34th in passing success rate. He’s yet to throw for more than 187 yards in any of his outings, but the team is 3-0 when he rushes the ball at least nine times.

Last year, he averaged 56.8 rushing yards in his five starts per the Ravens vs Bengals picks, and Baltimore wound up covering in four of those games.

Game Total Under 41.5 Points

These two teams combined to average only 39.5 points in their two meetings this season. They both were among the top-11 most profitable under teams to back in 2022, with Baltimore ranking tied for first.

Just one of the Ravens last six games eclipsed the total, while only two even reached 30 points. Their offensive futility is largely to blame for that, but so too is their exception defense. We detailed how well they play against the run, but their pass defense is very strong as well.

NFL Top-5 Under Records

Team Under Record Under %
Baltimore Ravens 5-12-0 70.6%
New York Jets 5-12-0 70.6%
Tennessee Titans 5-12-0 70.6%
Washington Commanders 5-11-1 68.8%
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 6-11-0 64.7%

They yield just 232 passing yards per game, and have held Burrow below 218 passing yards in both meetings this season. Burrow has managed just 2 TD passes combined in those matchups, while Baltimore is also among the top-eight teams in takeways.

Not to be outdone, the Bengals have held three of their past five opponents below 20 points. They rank 11th in total defense per DVOA and top-six in coverage.

The under has hit in four of their past six games, and in 30 of the past 44 Wild Card playoff games entering this weekend.
