Kickoff at SoFi Stadium is set for 8:20 pm ET. The weather forecast is calling for clouds, 6 mph wind and a temperature of 75 degrees. NBC is carrying the broadcast, but it can also be streamed via fuboTV. In Canada, the action is available through TSN and DAZN.

Bills vs Rams NFL Betting Trends

In order to beat the Rams, Buffalo must overcome the Week 1 perfection of the Rams under head coach Sean McVay. Since he took over as coach in 2017, LA is 5-0 both straight up and ATS in Week 1 of the season. However, this is the first time the Rams have ever opened the season under McVay as betting underdogs. Last season, LA was 3-0 ATS as an underdog.

Buffalo has its own betting trend to draw upon. The Bills are 4-1 both SU and ATS in the past five games against the Rams. Buffalo hasn’t lost a game to the Los Angeles Rams since 1983. However, the Bills did lose twice since then to the St Louis Rams. The Bills opened as the 2.5-point chalk over the Rams and the line hasn’t moved.

In NFL public betting trends, people are on board with Buffalo. Spread wagering is showing 74% of handle and 68% of bets are on Buffalo. In moneyline wagering, 61% of handle and 56% of bets are backing Buffalo. The over is getting the action on the total. There’s 64% of handle and 60% of bets supporting the teams going over 52 points. Buffalo has scored at least 30 points in seven of the last eight games against the Rams.

Rams QB Stafford Nursing Tendinitis In Elbow

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is playing with tendinitis in his throwing elbow. He insists it’s a manageable pain level. Stafford was playing with a similar ailment last season. He threw for 41 touchdowns against 17 interceptions.

The Rams are entering the NFL season as a relatively healthy bunch. Wide receiver Van Jefferson, who underwent minor knee surgery at the beginning of August, is listed as questionable.

Buffalo placed All-Pro cornerback Tre’Davious White on the reserve/PUP list on Tuesday. That means he’ll be out for the first four weeks of the NFL season.

Will Allen, Stafford Air It Out?

Caesars Sportsbook is offering a Week 1 super boost with a maximum bet of $25. Bet on Stafford and Bills QB Josh Allen to both top 249.5 in passing yardage in your Bills vs Rams prop bets and get odds of +125.

A winning wager at the maximum amount of $25 offers an implied probability of success of  44.44% and a payout of $56.25.

Bills vs Rams Prediction

Neither the Rams (5-7, .417) or Bills (3-6, .333) are especially successful when playing on Thursday. The Bills are 1-4 SU and ATS in their past five Thursday games.

In the only previous Week 1 meeting between these two teams, Buffalo walloped the Rams 40-19 at home to open the 1992 NFL season. The last meeting in Buffalo in 2019 saw the Bills outscore the Rams 35-32. Buffalo squandered a 28-3 lead in that game and needed a rally to come back from a 32-28 deficit.

The defending Super Bowl champions are 38-16-1 SU all-time in Week 1. Reigning NFL champs are 13-7-2 ATS in Week 1 since the 2000 season. McVay is seeking to become the first NFL coach to win six straight home openers since Mike Shanahan (1993-98).

Bills coach Sean McDermott is 3-2 SU in home openers. Last season, Buffalo blew a 10-point halftime lead in Week 1 and lost at home to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pick: Los Angeles Rams +2.5 (-110)
