  • The Carolina Panthers are 6-point home favorites over the Buffalo Bills in an NFL preseason game scheduled for Friday, August 26
  • Buffalo is a winner of six of eight regular-season meetings from Carolina
  • The Bills are 10-0 straight up and against the spread in their last 10 NFL preseason games

The Buffalo Bills (2-0) are bringing an impressive winning streak with them on the road as they close out the NFL preseason against the Carolina Panthers (1-1). While it may not be rivaling the NFL-record 22-game run of the Baltimore Ravens, the Bills are winners of their past 10 NFL preseason games.

Not only that, but the Bills are 10-0 against the spread during this run of success. As well, eight of the 10 games have gone over on the total.

Could the Panthers be the undoing of this streak? Oddsmakers are leaning hard in that direction. The Panthers are set as 6-point home favorites over the Bills. The Panthers are 3-2 against the spread over their last five home preseason games.

Bills vs Panthers Betting Trends

Buffalo’s 10-game NFL preseason winning streak is including a 27-14 win at Carolina on August 26, 2019. However, among the two losses the Bills were suffering during the 2018 preseason was a 28-23 home setback handed them by the Panthers. Both of those games went over.

Buffalo is 2-1 straight up in NFL preseason games played at Carolina. Overall, the two clubs have split six preseason meetings. In regular-season play, the Bills are holders of a 6-2 SU edge over the Panthers.

At moneyline odds of -260, the Panthers are offering an implied probability of victory of 53.49% in the NFL betting line. A successful $10 wager on Carolina would be delivering a payout of $18.70.

In NFL future bets, the Bills are +600 chalk in the Super Bowl odds, while Carolina is a significant longshot of +12500. As far as NFL public betting goes, in the DraftKings Sportsbook Super Bowl future book, Buffalo is drawing the most bets (19%) and handle (18%) of any NFL team.

Buffalo Isn’t Josh-ing

The Bills will be seeking to keep winning in the preseason without quarterback Josh Allen. Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott is indicating that his QB1 will be given the night off.

It will be Case Keenum and Matt Barkley getting the reps under center. However, so far that isn’t slowing down the potent Buffalo offense one iota. The Bills show a compilation of 69 points through two preseason victories.

Buffalo bubble players such as undrafted running back Raheem Blackshear (69 rushing yards, 81 receiving yards, two touchdowns) and wide receiver Khalil Shakir will be given one last chance to show they deserve a roster spot. Shakir is leading the Bills in the preseason with 151 receiving yards.

Carolina Will Be Playing Starters

Baker Mayfield hasn’t officially won the QB1 position for the Panthers over Sam Darnold. So he’s not getting a day off. Panthers head coach Matt Rhule is intent on playing all of his first-team players in the preseason finale.

Rhule is saying that Mayfield will start and play into the second quarter. He’ll be followed by Darnold, and then PJ Walker will finish up. Rookie Matt Corral (torn foot ligament) isn’t expected to play again this season.

Carolina will be playing without linebacker Shaq Thompson (knee surgery) and Ian Thomas (ribs). Both are currently on the injury list but could be available for Week 1 of regular-season action.

Bills vs Panthers Prediction

Let’s do some assessing here. A team that’s both winning and covering in 10 successive NFL preseason games is getting 6 points. In what realm does not taking those points offer any logical basis?

Best Bet: Buffalo Bills +6 (-110)
