  • The New York Giants (1-2) host the Washington Redskins (0-3) Sunday afternoon
  • QB Daniel Jones was electric helping New York get the win in his NFL debut and will get the start again for the Giants
  • QB Case Keenum had five turnovers on Monday Night Football but all indications point to him staying in the Redskins starting lineup for this game

Remember when New York Giants fans hated the selection of QB Daniel Jones in the draft? Feels like forever ago now.

The Redskins vs Giants odds & stats don’t lie and Daniel Jones is for real and the oddsmakers are giving him the respect he earned. After topping Tampa Bay 32-31 in his debut the rookie has been the talk of the league and suddenly has the New York Giants heading into their next game as favorites. Despite laying 3 points they are the smart play this weekend and here’s why.

Daniel Jones is the Real Deal at QB

It’s rare for a franchise to seamlessly transition from one franchise to the next but it seems like the Giants could be well on their way to doing just that. Jones was impressive in his first start replacing the benched Eli Manning.

He had 336 yards passing and two touchdowns to go along with another 28 yards rushing and two TDs on the ground. More than the gaudy stats, Jones seemed to pass everyone’s eye test.

A good reason for that was his 63.9 completion percentage. Being able to step up and complete 23 of 36 passes in his first test, even if it was against a below average Buccaneers’ defense, turned heads. Even with news RB Saquon Barkley will miss half the season with a high ankle sprain, there is optimism in New York and for very good reason.

Dwayne Haskins Will Continue to Watch From the Sidelines

Many pundits believed Dwayne Haskins would be selected before Daniel Jones in last year’s NFL draft. He didn’t beat him to the stage last night and he didn’t beat him to the field either. Haskins is destined to remain on the sidelines for the time being with head coach Jay Gruden announcing he’s not ready to put the former Ohio State Buckeye into his starting lineup.

That’s good news for bettors who get another chance to wager against Case Keenum. He had five turnovers on Monday Night Football and didn’t resemble anything close to a competent quarterback. It wasn’t just one bad night either. Keenum is now 35-47-1 in his career and I’d expect another notch in the loss column this weekend. The Redskins may not be as bad as they looked against the Bears but they won’t be good enough to compete in this game.

Bet the Giants & Bet them Now

Sometimes the most important part of making a wager is when you make it. With all the hype around Danny Dimes (how great is that nickname?) this line is going to move in the Giants direction. As of now you’re only giving up a field goal but I don’t expect that to be the case for very long. Bet the Giants, bet them confidently and bet them before it’s too late to get the maximum value.

Pick: New York Giants -3 (-109)
