Suffice to say, we really needed a good Week 7, and the Lions and Cowboys delivered.

It’s going to take a monster week to get back to black, but why not us? These same Lions are on the docket, and at 1-5, almost assuredly sitting out the playoffs again.

They’re hosting a Miami Dolphins team that’s trying to keep pace with the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets in the AFC East. Tua Tagovailoa returned from concussion last week and led the Fins to a W over the Steelers, but they posted just 16 points in the win.

While the Lions continue to pile L’s, they’re at least exciting. Detroit is ranked ninth in the NFL in scoring — and they’ve been shut out once.

Let’s take a look at this game’s NFL player props and share a few of our favorite picks.

Odds as of October 29 at DraftKings Sportsbook

In the odds above, Tua Tagovailoa has the highest passing total, while Jared Goff is favored to throw for two touchdowns.

The highest rushing total goes to Raheem Mostert  at 67.5 yards, and the highest receiving total is given to Miami’s Tyreek Hill at 88.5 yards.

Prop #1: Tyreek Hill Receiving Yards

So yes, we took our lumps betting on Hill as he failed to pass his 78.5 yard total against Pittsburgh. We’re going back to the well, and tacking on an extra 10 yards to boot.

The reason is simple: volume. Hill currently leads the NFL in several major receiving categories, including targets, where he’s averaging a league-best 11.1 targets per contest.

He’s converting that into an NFL-leading 57 receptions and 773 yards. In fact, there’s no one within 120 yards of him in receiving yards. With Tua settled in after his first start coming off some scary head injuries, it’s all systems go.

The Lions may be middle-of-the-pack in pass yards allowed, but they’re surrendering 7.7 yards per attempt, which is second-worst, trailing only the Vikings. Look for Cheetah to break a few en route to a big day.

Pick:

  • Hill OVER 88.5 receiving yards (-115); 1 unit to win 0.87 units

Prop #2: Jamaal Williams and Jared Goff Rushing Yards

Even with D’Andre Swift expected to return for the first time since Week 3, Jamaal Williams has established himself as a more than capable lead back. He’s put up 411 yards and a 4.5 yard per carry average this season.

As a team, Detroit is sixth in rushing and third in yards per carry, with a healthy 5.3 per tote.

Williams has crossed this total in five straight, with an 18-yard buffer as his lowest clearance rate.

Like Hill, we’re going to the well again with Jared Goff’s running total. Last week, he topped 2.5 yards rushing, and that extra yard won’t deter us.

Only Mac Jones, Kirk Cousins and Zach Wilson have failed to cross this figure against the Dolphins this year. Wilson is the lone agile pivot to not gain four yards rushing. I’m counting on Goff breaking out of the pocket at least once Sunday.

Picks:

  • Williams OVER 35.5 rush yards (-115); 1 unit to win 0.87 units
  • Goff OVER 3.5 rush yards (-120); 1 unit to win 0.83 units

Dolphins vs Lions Touchdown Scorer Odds

About the only thing Hill (-120) hasn’t been a standout in this season is touchdowns. He has only two on the year, and both of those came in a wild win over the Ravens.

Detroit is second in the league in rush TD’s allowed, so Raheem Mostert (-145) as an anytime TD scorer is also enticing. He had a TD grab last week and he’ll be looking for scores in back-to-back games.

Miami is sixth in rushing scores surrendered so take a flier on either Swift (-120) or Williams (-105).

Pick:

  • Pick: Hill ANYTIME TD scorer (-120); 1 unit to win 0.83 units
  • Week 8 Record: 3-1; Overall Record: 8-13, -4.93 units
