Is there a softer landing for Dak Prescott to return than this?

Dallas’ star pivot is set to return for the first time since injuring his thumb in Week 1 against Tampa Bay, with Dallas sitting pretty at 4-2. He’ll be lining up against the Detroit Lions, who are among the worst defensive teams in the league.

The Lions are coming off a bye week, a week after an ugly shutout loss in Week 5 to the New England Patriots.

Dallas, meanwhile, dropped a first-place battle with the Philadelphia Eagles last time out, and need to win to keep pace with them and the upstart New York Giants.

Let’s run down the NFL player props in this all-NFC showdown.

Odds as of October 22nd at DraftKings Sportsbook

In the odds above, Dak Prescott has the highest passing yards total at 258.5, and is favored to throw over 1.5 TD’s. The highest rushing total is given to Ezekiel Elliott at 64.5, and the highest receiving total is CeeDee at 72.5 yards.

Prop #1: Elliott Rush Yards and Prescott Passing Yards

It’s been a somehwhat resurgent little run for Zeke Elliott, who has surpassed this rushing total in three of the last four games, rushing for less than 73 yards just once.

He’s going up against a Lions run defense that has given up the fifth-most yards this year, while allowing a healthy 5.5 yards per carry. Establishing the run will be key here to getting Dak back after missing five straight weeks.

While Prescott is a definite upgrade over Cooper Rush, Dallas doesn’t need Prescott to be dynamic, especially not against the Lions. Rush never came close to this passing yards total.

If the formula continues to be to ride a dominant defense, limit mistakes and lean on the ground game, these two props should go hand-in-hand.

  • Pick: Elliott OVER 64.5rushing yards (-120); 1 unit to win 0.83 units
  • Pick: Prescott UNDER 258.5 passing yards (-115); 1 unit to win 0.87 units

Prop #2: Jared Goff Rush Yards

Here we are again, with a way-too-tasty QB run prop.

Jared Goff has been one of the more prolific passers in the league this season, averaging 271 yards passing through his five starts on the year, but he’s going against a Dallas defense that’s yet to surrender a 300-yard passer.

Dallas’ defense has also piled up a league-high 24 sacks.

While Detroit has allowed the fewest sacks this season (7), they’ll be facing by far their stiffest test of the year. The pocket needs to collapse just once for Goff to move around and pick up this yardage.

The Cowboys are susceptible to mobile QB’s getting yards. Only Tom Brady and Matthew Stafford have failed to cross this total, with the likes of Joe Burrow, Daniel Jones, Carson Wentz and Jalen Hurts easily surpassed double-digit run yards.

  • Pick: Goff OVER 2.5 yards rushing (-125); 1 unit to win 0.80 units
