  • Which way will the line move for Thursday night’s game?

The Jacksonville Jaguars will host the Miami Dolphins for Thursday Night Football and the Jags opened up as a 2-point favorite. That line didn’t last long however, as it’s already climbed half a point in Jacksonville’s favor.

This battle of Florida will pit two teams against each other who are a combined 1-3 so far but both squads have fought valiantly through two weeks. Which way will the Dolphins vs Jaguars odds move in the coming weeks?

Jaguars Come Up Short In Week 2

The Jaguars were fighting uphill all day in Tennessee in Week 2 and while they eventually pulled even, they couldn’t do any better. They trailed 14-0, 21-7 and 30-17, but eventually tied it up at 30-30. The Titans eventually pulled out a 33-30 win.

There were a lot of positives for the Jaguars. Quarterback Gardner Minshew II had another strong day, going 30-of-45 for 339 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions (one wasn’t really his fault). Meanwhile, the running game contributed 165 yards and a touchdown.

The main issue for the Jags has been their defense. They gave up 33 points in Week 2 and were a bit lucky to only give up 20 in Week 1 when the Indianapolis Colts compiled 445 yards of offense. They’ll have to play better if this team is going to be competitive this season.

Dolphins Fall Short In Week 2

Similar to the Jaguars, the Dolphins fought very hard in Week 2. After trailing 7-0 and 17-7, they clawed back to take a 20-17 lead. Unfortunately, that was short-lived as the Buffalo Bills stormed back and won 31-28.

Although the Week 1 loss at New England was a bit discouraging, Week 2’s result was much more respectable. Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 328 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Unfortunately, the Dolphins couldn’t really run the ball (just 99 yards) to control the game. Their defense would have appreciated that.

The Bills offense shredded Miami as Josh Allen had 417 yards, four touchdowns and no picks. The Bills added 111 yards on the ground, which pushed them over a 500-yard day. That sets up what could be a high-scoring affair on Thursday with both defenses struggling.

Which Way Will The Line Move?

The line has already moved in the Jaguars favor and it’s likely not done. Jacksonville is 1-1 on the year and have fought hard against a couple of quality opponents.

As for the total, expect that to climb up. With two bad defenses on the field, we should see the number climb from open as bettors take the over to expect a high-scoring affair. So far this season, the Jaguars games are averaging 55.0 points per game while Dolphins games are averaging 45.5 points per contest. We should see points aplenty in this Thursday night prime time affair.
