- The 3-0 Las Vegas Raiders visit the 2-1 Los Angeles Chargers to wrap up Week 4 on Monday Night Football
- 2021 Record: 1-7; -6.9 Units
- Kickoff is set for 8:15 pm EST from SoFi Stadium on ESPN
Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders are the story everyone’s talking about. And in Week 4 on Monday Night Football, they face off with their division rivals, and the offseason darlings of the AFC, the Los Angeles Chargers.
Through three weeks, Carr is the NFL’s passing leader. He’s been throwing to a full complement of weapons, and despite missing Josh Jacobs, Peyton Barber and Kenyan Drake have lifted the running game.
Justin Herbert meanwhile, is just 247 yards behind Carr. He opened the year with back-to-back 330+ yard games, and finished with 281 in LA’s upset over the Chiefs. The Chargers have beaten opponents almost exclusively through the air, as they’re one of just six teams that had yet to have a runner go over 60 yards in a single game through three weeks.
The comfy confines of SoFi Stadium play host to the primetime clash at 8:15 pm EST on ESPN.

The Chargers come into Monday night favored by 3.5. It’s a number that they’ve covered in both of their wins. Each of those was on the road however, and their lone home contest saw them at -3.0 over the Cowboys.
Vegas started off the season hot, going 2-0 against the spread. With a chance to run that streak to 3-0, a failed drive late in the fourth quarter against Miami, and then settling for a 22-yard field goal in OT left bettors frustrated. The total is set at 52, with the under hitting in all three games LA.
Can Carr Keep it Going?
Derek Carr’s start to the season has been fantastic. The Raiders’ QB has thrown for more than 380 yards in each of his three starts and he leads the league in passing by nearly 200 yards.
So there’s no slowdown in sight, right?
This is why that 284.5 number is so interesting. In their first three games, Taylor Heinicke and Ryan Fitzpatrick combined for 135 yards passing, Dak Prescott threw for 237, and Patrick Mahomes managed just 260. Those last two names were top ten passers entering Week 4.

Removing Carr’s injury-abbreviated appearance in Week 14 last year, his yardage totals are low against LAC. In fact, he’s crossed his projected over just once in his last eight starts against LA, and four times in 13 full starts.
Carr threw for 82 yards in overtime against Miami last week, giving him 304 in regulation. So his final line was a bit bloated. The Chargers are better than the Dolphins against the pass, and have faced stiffer competition. They’ll slow down Carr.
- Derek Carr UNDER 284.5 yards passing (-115); 1 Unit
Keep Feedin’ Keenan
Keenan Allen has had a great first three weeks to the season, but it’s been overshadowed by Mike Williams’ performance.
Allen drew 13 targets in Week 1 and hauled in nine of them for 100 yards. Despite securing just four of eight in Week 2, he still totaled 108 yards. Then he did more of his work as a possession receiver in Week 3, catching eight of 12 balls for 50 yards.
For his career, he hasn’t exactly blown away the Raiders. He’s averaged 9.4 targets, 6.2 receptions and 69.5 yards per game. But that also includes an injury shortened appearance in Week 14 in 2020.

Since 2017, Allen has played seven games against the Raiders. He’s gone over his projected total in catches four times and over in yards three times. The catches could be a hard sell, but the Raiders have allowed an 80+ yard receiver in each of their first three games.
- Keenan Allen OVER 78.5 receiving yards (-115); 1 Unit

When it comes to scoring first, the Raiders are 0-3 this year. It looked like they were going to score first last week, but an Elandon Roberts pick-six extended the streak. LA, meanwhile, is 2-1. Ekeler nabbed the first TD of their 2021 season in Week 1, and Keenan Allen put the Chiefs in an early hole.
Based on the redzone trends, it seems smart to back the Chargers. Ekeler is eighth in the NFL in rushing attempts inside the 20, while Allen and Mike Williams are first and second in targets.
Ekeler has at least 17 touches in each of the last two games, and no one in the Chargers’ backfield is eating into his workload.
With the way Williams has been performing in the redzone, Jon Gruden may be devoting a little more attention to him this week. In theory, Allen should have a little more room to maneuver.
For the Raiders, Waller offers some nice value too. It paid off in Week 1, and he’s been quiet since, so eye a nice primetime bounce-back.
- The Pick: Austin Ekeler to score FIRST TD (+700); 1 Unit
- The Pick: Keenan Allen (+100), Darren Waller (+125) to score ANYTIME; 0.5 Units each
