Tua Tagovailoa looked comfortable right off the jump when he returned to action last week in the Dolphins (4-3, 1-2 road) victory over the Steelers. Although the Fish only squeaked out a 16-10 win, the Dolphins’ quarterback put up 13 of those 16 points in the first quarter alone, erasing any doubt about his ability to bounce back.
As they get set for Week 8, the Dolphins visit the Lions (1-5, 1-2 home) at Ford Field in Detroit. Kickoff is set for 1pm ET on Sunday, October 30th, with the Lions a slight underdog in the NFL odds. CBS will have the broadcast for this matchup.
Offense has been a serious problem for the Lions, who have only put up six points combined in their last two games. Let’s have a look at all the Dolphins vs Lions odds below while giving you our best bet and prediction.

Riding a four game losing streak and a terrible offensive showing in their last two outings, the Lions are 3.5-point home underdogs in a game that features an over/under total of 51.5. Surprisingly, Detroit has hit the over in four of their six games so far this year, but have gone under the total in their last two games.
Public money is heavy on the chalk with 79% of the bets currently on the Dolphins to cover as 3.5-point favorites and drawing 68% of the spread handle.

Dolphins Solid Moneyline Bet With Tua Starting
Having a healthy Tagovailoa behind center makes a significant difference when looking who to pick on the moneyline in Dolphins’ contests. The Fish are 4-1 in games started by the former Alabama QB and winless in both contests when he didn’t start.

He has developed an incredible connection with off-season acquisition Tyreek Hill, who currently leads the NFL in receptions and receiving yards. With Tua back in the fold, the oddsmakers consider Miami strong contenders to get to the postseason as reflected in the NFL playoff odds.
If anything, it comes off a little surprising the Dolphins are only favored by 3.5-points and that is likely why so much of the public money is on the Fish.
Detroit Lions Betting Trends
The Lions’ offense has completely fallen off the rails in their last two games. Through their first five contests, Detroit was averaging 35 points per game, but they haven’t even scored a touchdown the last two times they were on the field. It’s the fewest points the Lions have scored in a two-game span since the 1993 season.
The Detroit Lions Offense’s last 20 drives have resulted in the following:
• Turnover on Downs – 5 times
• Interception – 3
• Fumble – 3 (1 Defensive TD)
• Punts – 5
• Field Goal – 2
• End of Half/Game – 2Including INT, punt, fumble, INT, and fumble the 2H @ DAL

It’s got to be extremely frustrating for head coach Dan Campbell, who’s gotten a lot of neutral fans pulling for him after showing himself to be a very likeable character on episodes of “Hard Knocks.” Last week they were up 6-3 against the Cowboys at the half, before ultimately falling 24-6.
Despite completing 21-of-26 passes last week, Jared Goff threw two picks, which severely hampered any chance the Lions had to win. That’s just the fourth time since 1950 that a team completed at least 80% of its passes, but failed to score a major.

There may be some positive news coming for the offense though, as it appears they’ll be getting a couple playmakers back in the lineup, which should help put some points on the board.
Dolphins vs Lions Injury News
Running back D’Andre Swift is on schedule to return from a shoulder injury he suffered in Week 3 against the Vikings. The 3rd-year tailback was a full participant in practice on Friday. Meanwhile, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is also trending towards playing Sunday. He left last week’s game against the Cowboys and was put in concussion protocol.
On the defensive side of the football, the news doesn’t appear as good for Detroit. The secondary is severely depleted with as many as four players expected to be out, including starter DeShon Elliott.

For the Dolphins, the injury report featured mostly good news with three-time Pro Bowl selection Terron Armstead not getting a game status designation for the first time since Week 2, which means he definitely should be good to go and add a solid layer of protection to Tagovailoa.
Dolphins vs Lions Pick & Prediction
After being competitive in their first four games, the Lions have totally come undone in their last two outings. They went 1-3 to start the season and their largest margin of defeat was only four points. However, Goff just seems like he doesn’t have what it takes to be a starter on a team chasing a playoff spot in this league anymore.

Right now, it looks like the biggest competition for the Lions is whether they’ll get a chance to select C.J. Stroud or Bryce Young in the NFL Draft odds.
While they could turn things around, it’s unlikely to happen against a Dolphins team that just got back their starting pivot back on the field last week and appear poised to be a serious threat in the playoffs last year. Let’s ride the public betting wave this week and pick the Dolphins to cover 3.5-points in the NFL odds.
Pick: Miami Dolphins -3.5 (-110), 1.5 units
2022 NFL Season Picks Record: 1-0, +0.89 units
