  • The New Orleans Saints visit the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football to cap Week 7
  • Week 5 Record: 4-1, +6.4 Units; 2021 Record: 7-11; -3.0 units
  • Kickoff is set for 8:15 pm EST on ESPN from Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington

Coming off of their bye in Week 6, the New Orleans Saints are hoping to keep pace in both the NFC South and Wild Card races.

The Seahawks are, uncharacteristically, staring up at the NFC West. With Russell Wilson out, Geno Smith gets his second-straight start. And despite a productive Sunday night showing, Seattle’s running backs are banged up.

Things get underway from Lumen Field in Seattle at 8:15 pm EST on ESPN.

Odds as of  October 24h at DraftKings

*Indicates Pass + Rush yards

New Orleans is favored by 4.5-points, the second straight game Seattle have been underdogs at home. The Saints are 3-2 ATS this year, while the Seahawks are 3-3. A Saints cover, as well as the over on the 42.5 point total have been popular picks leading up to Monday night.

Famous Jameis and the Tale of TDs

Jameis Winston has had an up and down season so far

In the Week 1 win over Green Bay, he tossed five touchdowns on just 14 completions. In wins against New England and Washington, Winston threw six TDs total, including four against WFT.

But in losses? Winston has totaled one touchdown and two interceptions.

Seattle’s pass defense has been going through some fits as well. In three of their first four games they gave up multiple passing touchdowns. Both the Rams and Steelers only managed one TD through the air, although the Rams ran wild on the ground.

Winston asked coach Sean Payton for ways he could improve over the bye week. Buried in the ‘healthy’ text message was one key takeaway. Payton and Winston want to see a ‘smoother ball’ in the short game.

That could provide immediate dividends for the Saints’ offense; it’s how they operated under Drew Brees for years after all. Add in the possibility that Geno Smith could offer the Saints a few short drives, and the price on a two TD night is too good to pass up.

  • The Pick: Jameis Winston OVER 1.5 passing TDs (+140)

Seahawks QBs Love DK

Whether it’s Russell Wilson or Geno Smith, everyone is looking DK Metcalf’s way.

After Wilson left the game against the Rams with his finger injury, Smith locked in on the third-year receiver. On his first drive, Smith went 2-for-3 when targeting Metcalf, racking up 40 yards and a touchdown. He would find him one more time for a 14-yard gain.

A week later in Pittsburgh, Smith once again relied on Metcalf. Metcalf tied for the team lead in targets (seven) and led the way in catches (six) and yards (58).

For the season, Metcalf hasn’t recorded fewer than four catches in any game. He’s also received at least seven targets in four of Seattle’s six games.

The Saints allowed Terry McLaurin and DeAndre Carter to each haul in four passes in Week 5. In Week 4, four different Giants caught five or more passes, and two Patriots logged six or more catches the week before.

Yes, Metcalf could draw Marshon Lattimore in coverage for at least part of Monday night. Lattimore is also coming off of a particularly dominant game against Washington. But even with their top corner allowing a 42.9% completion percentage this year, the opportunities for catches have been there against New Orleans.

  • The Pick: DK Metcalf OVER 4.5 catches (-120)

Saints vs Seahawks Scoring Props

Juwan Johnson, NO +1800 +330
Jameis Winston, NO +2200 +380

Odds as of October 24th at DraftKings

The board for scoring is pretty top heavy, with Alvin Kamara a clear favorite.

It’s not surprising when you consider the talent, but do the results really match up? Kamara has one rushing touchdown (Week 5) and two receiving TDs this season. Taysom Hill has vultured Kamara’s redzone runs with three of his own on the ground.

Juwan Johnson and Marquez Callaway both have three receiving TDs, but both have two score games to their name.

Of the three times the Saints have scored the first TD, two have been Kamara. For the Seahawks, scoring first has only come through the air. And with Wilson at the helm. So we won’t pin too much on Geno Smith early.

But to go along with the double dip on Kamara, Metcalf has been a TD monster.

Foot injury and all, it looks like Smith will be looking his way a lot. And just because Smith isn’t an All-Pro, doesn’t mean Metcalf’s size and speed advantage in the redzone goes away.

  • The Pick: Alvin Kamara to score FIRST touchdown (+400); 0.5 units
  • The Pick: Alvin Kamara (-175), DK Metcalf (+150) to score ANYTIME; 0.5 units
