- Vikings listed as opening 16-point favorites over the Redskins — the largest spread of the week
- Minnesota is 3-0 ATS on home field this season
- Buffalo opens as 1-point favorites against the Eagles in Week 8
Through seven weeks of action, the Washington Redskins and Miami Dolphins still have a combined win total of just one.
So it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that two of the NFL’s worst teams this season opened as the largest underdogs against the spread heading into Week 8.
Sportsbooks have released their opening spreads for the week and lists the Redskins as 16-point underdogs against the Minnesota Vikings and the Dolphins 14.5-point underdogs against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Are both teams in for another blowout week or should bettors consider taking the points on Washington and Miami?
Here’s a closer look at the best spreads, money lines and points totals for Week 8.

Largest Spreads Favor Vikings, Steelers
The Vikings are one of the hottest teams in football going into Week 8, having won their last three games. Minnesota boasts a rock-solid 5-2 record against the spread and are 3-0 in that category at U.S. Bank Stadium this season.
The Vikings have won by 16 or more points three times this season, the latest coming in Week 6’s 38-20 win over the Eagles.
However, since the Redskins fired Jay Gruden, the team has gone 2-0 ATS and will be looking to continue that trend against Minnesota.

The second largest spread of the week comes in the game between the Miami and Pittsburgh, with the Steelers listed as early 14.5-point favorites.
The line opened as high as 16.5, but moved down slightly. There may be more movement on the point spread considering Miami is 4-2 ATS in its last six games against the Steelers. But bettors should also keep in mind that Miami is 2-7 ATS in its last nine games overall.
Bills are Perfect ATS at Home this Season
The Buffalo Bills, who squeaked by the Dolphins in Week 7, moved to 5-1 and now face the Eagles in a game that opened with the smallest spread.

The Bills are getting the 1-point edge, as Buffalo enters the highly anticipated matchup with an overall ATS record of 4-2 on the season. Sportsbooks are still one of the few sports books that is still offering Even money for the game between the Bills and Eagles.
Buffalo tends to perform better ATS on home field, where they hold a 3-0 record. The Eagles are 2-4 ATS this season and are 1-2 on the road.
The biggest total of the week opened at 50.5 for the game between the red-hot Houston Texans and Oakland Raiders.
Houston’s record in regards to the total in their last seven games is 4-3, but the Texans’ are 2-1 in that category in their last three. By comparison, the Raiders are 4-2 overall in the Over/Under — losing their last game 42-24 to the Packers.

Packers First Team to Face the Mahomes-less Chiefs
Speaking of the Packers, the NFC North Division leaders head into their Week 8 game against the Chiefs as the 3-point favorites — marking the first time this season Kansas City opens as an underdog.
That is of course because the Chiefs will be without reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes, who will be out of action for at least three weeks with a dislocated knee cap.

Picking the Chiefs at +3? Sportsbooks are offering an enticing line of +110 if you believe journeyman quarterback Matt Moore can provide even half of what Mahomes did prior to suffering the injury.
Another game to keep an eye on is between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals, in which sportsbooks have set a hefty point total of 48.5.
The Rams are 11th in points per game average (25.5) but the Bengals are fifth worst at 16.2 PPG this season.
