A wild Monday Night Football game between the Detroit Lions and Baltimore Ravens – which ended in a 38-30 upset victory for the Lions – capped off the Week 3 slate and sent minor shockwaves through the NFL Week 4 Power Rankings.
The Ravens were the #1 team in last week’s rankings, while the Lions were down in #7. Baltimore has ceded top spot back to the Buffalo Bills, while the Lions moved up two spots. The table below sets out the NFL Power Rankings for all 32 teams based on the updated Super Bowl odds ahead of Week 4. Last week’s rankings is in parentheses.
NFL Power Rankings for Week 4
There is currently a five-way tie for dead-last, up from four last week. The still-winless Giants have dropped into that last-place tie after an anemic 22-9 home loss to the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.

Undefeated Colts Moving Up in Week 4 NFL Power Rankings
Detroit’s jump from #7 to #5 actually wasn’t the biggest on the board this week. Indianapolis made a three-spot leap from #16 to #13 after a 41-20 rout of the Titans in Tennessee. The undefeated Colts hold a one-game lead on the Jaguars and three-game cushion on the Texans and Titans.
This marks the second straight week that the Colts have made the biggest jump in the NFL Power Rankings; Indy rose seven spots from 23rd to 16th ahead of Week 3. (Pittsburgh also rose three spots in the Week 4 rankings, from #21 to #18 after finally getting a solid defensive performance in a 21-14 road win at New England.)
Indy’s Week 4 clash with the Rams will be a huge litmus test. The opening NFL Week 4 odds listed the Colts as 3.5-point road underdogs, but that line has already been pushed to 4.5 in the updated NFL point spreads due to early money siding with the Rams.
Winless Texans Tumble Down NFL Power Rankings
Off to a disastrous 0-3 start, the Houston Texans have faded from 13th in the Week 3 rankings all the way to 19th in the Week 4 rankings, a massive six-spot decline. No other team fell more than two places.
The Texans schedule doesn’t let up too much, either. After a should-win Week 4 clash with the Titans at home, they travel to face the Ravens in Week 5 and Seahawks in Week 7, followed by home games with the 49ers in Week 8 and Broncos in Week 9.
It’s not hard to envision the Texans being 1-7 at roughly the halfway point of the season.
Packers Hold Firm at #3 Despite Upset Loss to Browns
One of the more surprising outcomes of the Week 4 NFL Power Rankings is that the Packers were able to hold onto their #3 position after an ugly 13-10 road loss at the previously-winless Browns, a game they led 10-0 with under four minutes to play in the fourth quarter.
Yes, the Browns defense is good, but Jordan Love and company managed just 230 total yards of offense while allowing five sacks.
Perhaps oddsmakers looked at Green Bay’s self-destructionary 14 penalties and reasoned that undisciplined play will be a one-off.
