Between the Washington Commanders (1-4, 1-4 ATS) and the Chicago Bears (2-3, 2-2-1 ATS), it’s the latter that is proving to be at least somewhat of a better bet so far during the 2022 NFL season.
Forced to choose between these two mediocre squads as they meet on TNF in Week 6, it’s the hometown Bears that the public is embracing. Chicago is drawing the larger share of both spread and moneyline wagering in the NFL public betting and money percentages for tonight’s Commanders vs Bears game.

Public Liking Bears in ATS Betting Action
Studying the NFL public betting trends, the action is going with the hometown Bears. Chicago is drawing 69% of against the spread handle and 58% of ATS bets.
Chicago is a middling 2-2-1 ATS Â so far this season. The Bears are 1-0-1 ATS as a home team and 1-0 ATS as a home underdog. Chicago is among 10 NFL teams this season with a perfect ATS slate as a home underdog. Last season, the Bears were 0-5 ATS as a home underdog.

Last week on the road, Chicago rallied from a 21-3 deficit to cover as 8.5-point underdogs in a 29-22 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
The opening line for Week 6 TNF in the NFL odds was pick’em and has since moved to Commanders -1. Washington is 5-1 ATS in the last six games against the Bears and 7-3 ATS through their past 10 meetings. At Chicago, the numbers are leaning even more strongly to the Commanders. Washington is 9-0 ATS in the last nine games at Soldier Field.
However, the Commanders are 2-8 ATS overall in their past 10 games. They are 0-4 ATS over the past four games.
Public Defying Logic, Betting Commanders vs Bears Over
Last week, TNF gave us Indianapolis 12, Denver 9. This game can’t possibly go under that total, but it won’t be for trying. The Commanders vs Bears opened with a total of 39.5 points, which was the lowest of any Week 6 NFL game. The line has since shortened to 38 points.
Looking into the NFL team trends, Washington has gone under in five of the past seven games. The under is 21-8 in Chicago’s last 29 home games. Bears games this season are showing an average of 38.6 points per game. Washington games are coming in at 43.6 PPG.
Bears-Commanders total 38.
Since 2020, in games with totals of 38 or fewer points the UNDER is 7-1 per @Bet_Labs.

The Commanders are the NFL’s #26 scoring offense at 18.0 PPG. Chicago is #28, putting 17.2 PPG on the board.
According to research conducted by BetMGM, in the last eight NFL games in which the total was 38 points or fewer, the under has gone 7-1.
Seeking a play on the Commanders vs Bears player props?  Perhaps look at an over on rushing yardage for Chicago RB David Montgomery. The Bears are #5 in the NFL in rushing, grinding out 157.4 yards on the ground per game this season.
Moneyline Bettors Also Leaning to Chicago
Public bettors are seeing a Bears market in terms of the moneyline in the Commanders vs Bears picks. Chicago is garnering 63% of both moneyline handle and moneyline bets on this game.

Washington is 0-2 straight up on the road this season. However, the Commanders are 1-0 SU as a favorite.
Going back to last season, Chicago is 4-0 SU at home. However, prior to that hot streak the Bears went 0-5 SU at Soldier Field.
