  • Final injury report for the NFC Championship Game between the 49ers and Eagles has been released
  • McCaffrey (calf) and Samuel (ankle) don’t carry a tag, but Mitchell (groin) is questionable
  • Below is a complete 49ers vs Eagles Injury report and analysis of how key injuries have affected betting lines

For nearly the entire week, the NFC Championship Game line hasn’t budged. The Eagles remained a 2.5-point favorite, despite drawing the majority of the bets. That changed on Saturday, as some online sportsbooks made the move to Philadelphia -3 over the 49ers. Read on for the 49ers vs Eagles injury report.

One of the biggest reasons for the move is the Eagles’ sparkling clean bill of health. All 22 starters are available for Sunday’s conference title game, giving Philadelphia an excellent chance to get back to the Super Bowl.

San Francisco 49ers Report

San Francisco’s injury report meanwhile, is pretty short as well. Elijah Mitchell is the lone impact player on the list, as he’s currently questionable with a groin injury. Mitchell, who began the season as the team’s starting RB before the Christian McCaffrey trade, sprained his MCL during the regular season causing him to miss 12 of 16 games before returning for Week 18.

Mitchell has looked good in a limited role since returning, rushing for 107 yards and 2 TD, while chipping in another score through the air. His outlook for Sunday looks bleak though, as he didn’t practice all week and the Niners have elevated Tevin Coleman from the practice roster. That signals Mitchell likely won’t play, putting even more of the workload on CMC’s shoulders.

McCaffrey was on the injury report earlier this week with a calf issue that seemed to bother him during the Divisional Round. He missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but has been a full go ever since and doesn’t carry a tag into Sunday.

The same goes for Deebo Samuel, who sat out practice earlier this week with an ankle injury. He’s off the injury report as well, and we can expect plenty of rushing volume for him and CMC, the team’s two most explosive players.

Per the 49ers vs Eagles picks, San Francisco ranks ninth in rushing attempts per game, while the Eagles rank 21st in run defense per DVOA, compared to first against the pass.

In non-injury-related news, it appears backup defensive end Charles Omenihu will play despite his arrest earlier in the week. Omenihu was a non-factor in the Divisional Round win over Dallas but did have two sacks and three tackles in the Niners’ Wild Card victory over the Seahawks.

Philadelphia Eagles Report

At the start of the week, it didn’t look like the injury situation would break so clean for Philadelphia. Star receiver A.J. Brown was dealing with a hip issue, while stud right tackle Lane Johnson was battling a groin injury. Neither player is likely 100%, but they’re both healthy enough to avoid an injury designation.

Speaking of Brown, he’s a feature target in the 49ers vs Eagles props. The 49ers’ defense was the number one unit per DVOA, however, if there’s one area that’s susceptible to big plays it’s along the boundary.

One injury situation that’s cleared up for Philly that’s flying under the radar is the return of Avonte Maddox. He patrols the slot primarily which is the exact area of the field the Niners love to target. With Maddox out of the lineup this season, the Eagles ranked 27th versus passes over the middle. When Maddox played, no team gave up less production to that area of the field than Philadelphia.

How Injuries Have Affected 49ers vs Eagles Betting Lines

Per the 49ers vs Eagles public betting splits, 79% of the spread money is backing Philadelphia. The Eagles were the popular side early in the week, but this clean bill of health has bettors falling over themselves to back Jalen Hurts and co.

Johnson’s injury is incredibly important for keeping the continuity of Philly’s offensive line together versus this devastating Niners front. Nick Bosa is the favorite in the NFL DPOY odds, and San Fran’s defense ranks near the top of nearly every pass rush and run stuffing metric.

Not to be outdone, the Eagles’ offensive line when healthy grades out as the best in the league. The matchup in the trenches is likely going to decide this game, and Johnson will be front and center if the result goes Philadelphia’s way.
