  • Seahawks made several changes this offseason
  • Quarterback Russell Wilson re-signed
  • Is there value on Seattle to win the Super Bowl?

The Seattle Seahawks like any NFL team has gone under significant changes this offseason. Their most important signing to date is re-signing quarterback Russell Wilson to a massive four-year $140 million contract.

Although re-signing Wilson was key, the Seahawks also lost the likes of wide receiver Doug Baldwin and safety Kam Chancellor, two integral pieces to Seattle’s 2014 Super Bowl winning team.

Super Bowl 54 Odds

Team Odds
New England Patriots +700
Kansas City Chiefs +850
New Orleans Saints +900
Los Angeles Rams +1100
Cleveland Browns +1200
Philadelphia Eagles +1200
Chicago Bears +1400
Indianapolis Colts +1400
Los Angeles Chargers +1600
Green Bay Packers +1800
Seattle Seahawks +2800

Odds taken 05/10/19.

However, it wasn’t all doom and gloom as the Seahawks also signed Ziggy Ansah, who recorded four sacks with the Detroit Lions last year, and 12 the year before that.

With these moves, it has changed Seattle’s Super Bowl odds to +2800, the 15th-best odds to win.

Seattle’s Success Starts at QB

There is no question the NFL is wide-open in terms of who will win the Super Bowl. There are always the top contenders with the likes of the New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints among others. However, with the changes several teams made this offseason, like the Cleveland Browns, the door is wide-open.

In Seattle’s case, who have the 15th-best odds, there is value to be had at +2800. For a team to win they need to have a good quarterback, and they have it in Wilson who threw for 3,448 yards with 35 touchdowns compared to just seven interceptions.

Not only do the Seahawks have a good quarterback, but their defense is also still as good as ever. Although they parted ways with Chancellor, he didn’t factor into last year’s team, and with the addition of Ansah, their pass rush will only be better, which lacked at times.

They had a turnover ratio of +15 last season, and on offense had over 2,000 rushing yards. The Seahawks will no doubt be in the playoffs next season, but is the Super Bowl likely?

Seattle had a turnover ratio of +15 last season, and on offense had over 2,000 rushing yards.

Ultimately, it is tough to say this far out as it only takes one injury to say Wilson for their season to go down. But, it also takes just one good year from several players to help lead this team to a championship.

However, I can’t see them getting past the likes of the Patriots, Chiefs, Saints and the Rams as they are simply too good for Seattle to beat. Although +2800 odds are very good, and may be something worth throwing a few dollars down on to see what happens.

But, in this case, I don’t think the Seahawks will win the Super Bowl this season. But, anything can happen and the pieces they have added are legitimate and they should be better this year compared to last season.

In the end, if you are going to throw any money down, I would advise putting it on the likes of the Chiefs and Saints as I think that could very well be the Super Bowl.
