We were literally a Jared Goff rush yard away from a winning week.

Alas, we’ll settle for a split and our quest to get back to the black continues.

The next stop is Arizona for an all-NFC West showdown between the first-place Seattle Seahawks and the 3-5 Arizona Cardinals.

Seattle has overachieved all season, behind a rejuvenated Geno Smith, and a Pete Carroll-pleasing, old-school ground game. The Cards have been massive underachievers, but with DeAndre Hopkins back from suspension and looking great, perhaps they have a 2nd-half run in them.

Let’s take a look at this game’s NFL player props and share a few of our favorite picks.

Odds as of November 5 at DraftKings Sportsbook

In the odds above, Geno Smith is favored to throw for two touchdowns, with Kyler Murray favored to throw for less than 261.5 yards.

The highest rushing total goes to Kenneth Walker III at 73.5 yards, and the highest receiving total is given to ‘Zona’s Hopkins at 84.5 yards.

Prop #1: Walker III Rush Yards and Smith TD Passes

There might not be another coach in the league more committed to the run that Carroll, and it appears he’s got a new workorse in Kenneth Walker III.

In his first four appearances this season, Walker III had a total of 23 carries. In the last three games, he’s averaged over 20 carries. His breakout game was against these Cardinals, when he carried 21 times for 97 yards and a TD.

After his career-best 167-yard, two-TD effort against the Chargers, KWIII only managed 51 against the Giants on 18 carries last week.

The Cardinals are giving up a healthy 4.4 yards per tote, though last week Dalvin Cook was the first RB they’d surrendered 100-yards rushing to on the season. This is a good spot for Walker to get back on track.

As for Smith, he was more game manager than game breaker in their Week 6 matchup. throwing for just 197 yards and no TD passes. That game was definitely more the aberration than the norm, as Smith has thrown for at least two scores in five of the last six and six of eight games this season.

Arizona has surrendered at least two passing scores in each of the last two games. Look for the beat to go on.

Picks:

  • Walker III OVER 73.5 rushing yards (-115); 1 unit to win 0.87 units
  • Smith OVER 1.5 TD passes (-130); 1.5 units to win 1.16 units

Prop #2: DeAndre Hopkins Receiving Yards

You think Kyler Murray missed his top receiver?

Since returning from a 6-game suspension for violating the NFL’s PED policy, Hopkins has stayed well fed, garnering 27 targets in his two appearances, turning those into 22 receptions, 262 yards and a touchdown.

In the first six games without Hopkins, Arizona had just one receiver crack 100 yards receiving in a game.

The Seahawks’ pass defense is 21st in the NFL, giving up 236.6 yards per game. While they’ve allowed just two 100-yard receivers in eight games this season, five different players have crossed this total.

Hopkins missed both matchups against the ‘Hawks last season, but the last time he played them, he caught 10 balls for 103 yards and a score. Better value with receiving yards vs receptions, so let’s go there.

Picks:

  • Hopkins OVER 88.5 receiving yards (-115); 1 unit to win 0.87 units

Seahawks vs Cardinals Touchdown Scorer Odds

No Seahawk has done more damage in Arizona that Tyler Lockett, who has caught at least two TD passes in each of his last three appearances at State Farm Stadium.

Walker III has also found paydirt in each of Seattle’s last four games.

It looks as though James Conner might be a go Sunday, and if he is, he’s scored a major in each of his last three games against the ‘Hawks.

Pick:

  • Pick: Lockett ANYTIME TD scorer (+150); 1 unit to win 1.5 units
  • Week 8 Record: 2-2; Overall Record: 10-15, -5.19 units
