  • The Tennessee Titans are in Pittsburgh to battle the Steelers, looking to clinch the AFC South
  • Last week’s prop picks: 1-3. Overall: 21-34, -9.93 units

Of course, the Chiefs hang 48 on the Raiders, and Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce aren’t the showstoppers. And then, of course, on a short week, they light the LA Chargers on fire.

That’s sort of the way it’s gone for us these last few weeks with these tricky prop bets.

Still, we soldier on, and into a matchup where offensive fireworks aren’t expected when the Titans visit the Steelers — unless Pittsburgh falls behind large, activating Ben Roethlisberger 4th-quarter comeback mode.

As always, we’ve got you set with a game preview and betting pick.

Let’s delve into these prop waters and secure some wins, shall we?

Odds taken Dec 18 from DraftKings

D’Onta Foreman Longest Rush

No one was ever going to replace an injured Derrick Henry, but D’Onta Foreman has been doing what he can to keep the Titans’ run game a prominent part of their offense. Who knows how much stronger his game would be if the Titans weren’t so depleted across the skill player positions?

He’s averaging a healthy 4.4 yards per tote, and he’s going against a Steelers’ defense that surrenders the second most rush yards per game, behind only the Houston Texans, and they’re they only team in the league to give up five yards per carry.

Since coming off their Week 7 bye, the Steelers have surrendered at least one run over Foreman’s total this week. While I don’t know if he’ll cross his rushing total, Forman should be able to at least break one against this weak run defense. He’s only done it once this year, but I think he’s got a great opportunity Sunday.

Pick:

  • Foreman OVER 13.5 yards longest rush (1 unit to win 0.83 units)

Najee Harris Rushing Yards

Steelers’ rookie Najee Harris is coming off a pair of strong performances, including last week’s loss to the Vikings, where he rushed for 94 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown. He’s gone over this week’s projected line in the last two weeks, but he’ll be up against one of the best run defenses in the NFL in the Titans.

Granted, Harris did just surpass that total against the league’s top defense in the Ravens, but Baltimore’s not exactly themselves lately, and the many injuries to their roster are starting to catch up to them.

Tennessee appears to be the outlier, finding ways to compete despite the most man games lost in a season in NFL history. While their offense has struggled their defense has closed the valve on the run game.

Since Henry went down, the most yards they’ve allowed to a single back is Darrell Henderson’s 55 against the Rams. In fact, only the Patriots have been able to rush for 100 yards, as a team. The Titans allow just 90.9 yards on the ground per game this season.

Their strategy should be sound here: stop Harris and force Roethlisberger to beat them with his arm.

Pick:

  • Harris UNDER 67.5 yards rushing (1 unit to win 0.87 units)

Titans vs Steelers TD Scorers

Thanks, as always, to our good friends at DraftKings for the insight into scoring props heading into the week.

For the Steelers, Harris has scored at least one major in seven of Pittsburgh’s last 10 games, while another rookie, tight end Pat Freiermuth has been a consistent go-to redzone threat. He’s scored at least one TD in three of Pittsburgh’s last four games.

On the Titans’ side, veteran Chester Rogers has scored touchdowns in each of his last two games against the Steelers. There’s one with plenty of value here, which we’re taking: Ryan Tannehill has developed into a key goal line threat, scoring a major in five of the Titans’ last eight games. Look for a play-action scramble at the goal line, and that patented layup celebration against the Steelers.

Pick

  • Tannehill to score anytime TD (1 unit to win 3.5 units)
